  1. Mine hasnt changed since an email I got on March 23; 18,902. Yeah I'm guessing they just haven't updated after the scalpers who got theirs revoked. That and maybe some old people dying is all you'll be moving up this year. I wouldn't go that far. The big jump in prices might push a chunk of people away now that they've finally been able to see the Cubs win it all.
  2. It does seem a little... crummy... for the Cubs to say "here, use Stubhub to resell your tickets - don't use anything else - t's incredibly easy and all you have to do is wham bam boom and then done!" but then after they view the data on Stubhub, they cancel people's accounts due to excessive selling. That said, every STH that is booted off moves me one step closer to the front of the line so I have a hard time being upset at this. Though I can understand how a STH would be pissed if it happened to them.
  3. look at it this way, he's only going to be good for probably two years of the contract, and they're not going to be as good as us during that period anyway. Then in the final three years when he's hitting .210 and confined to a COF spot, he'll be soaking up $18m of their payroll. Good points. Plus, now he'll get an extra month of offseason time to spend with his family the next several years.
  4. This makes me way sadder than it should. As someone who absolutely hates the St. Louis Cardinals, this sucks.
  5. 8:1 career K:BB ratio? Yeah, that'll work... wait, he's horsefeathering FORTY-TWO?
  6. Glad to see he went to an AL team. Particularly one that is an unlikely 2017 World Series opponent. Surprised he only got ~17AAV considering Melancon received 15.5AAV (with an opt out).
  7. Good - another outfielder that the Cardinals are missing out on.
  8. one of them might get injured That's fair... definitely value in depth. I also think that it'll be something more than just Soler - look what it took to get half a season of Chapman last year. Obviously Chapman is going to cost much more, but the difference in Torres->Soler is disproportionate to the difference in Chapman->Davis.
  9. We already have a closer with some potential injury concerns - why give up a guy like Soler to acquire another one?
  10. That's 8000 accounts, not seats. Probably at least 95% of accounts have at least two seats with some, of course, having more. So likely closer to 20,000. Good catch. Could be poor wording, though. I'd still be a bit shocked if half the park were filled with season tickets, but who knows. Like you said, the vast majority of accounts will have 2, plenty will have more too...I just didn't think that much of the park would be STH, but I guess it's possible. Just seems like a lot (not that it's even close to not possible - given the size of the list they could pretty much sell the whole park if they wanted to) I think it's accurate. Look at attendance numbers from cold April midweek day games from 2012 and 2013. Those numbers are pretty instructive - while I'm sure not every ticket purchased for those games were STH, of course, I'd be willing to bet that there were only a few thousand at most that weren't.
  11. Where'd you see that? I was always under the impression that there were ~20,000 seats occupied by STH. Half the park would be pretty damn high. It's actually a little under 10k. And that's after they added a bunch 4-5 years ago. http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20161205/BLOGS04/161129995/chicago-cubs-raise-2017-ticket-prices That's 8000 accounts, not seats. Probably at least 95% of accounts have at least two seats with some, of course, having more. So likely closer to 20,000.
  12. I wonder how limited they are on the allotment of bleacher season tickets anyway. I read somewhere yesterday that the overall STH base is about 10k. Where'd you see that? I was always under the impression that there were ~20,000 seats occupied by STH.
  13. I'd love to have Harper in a Cubs uniform just as much as everyone else, but at 40M a year? I don't see it. If Heyward sticks around, you'd have 100M between him, Lester, Zobrist and Harper. KB, Addy, Hendricks and Baez are all going to be in year two of arbitration in 2019. Schwarber and Edwards (potential closer dollars) in year one. I just can't see the Cubs committing such a massive chunk of payroll to one guy when they have so many guys that could start to get really, really expensive very quickly.
  14. Not sure if this is what you're referring to, but I believe there was a moment after the NLDS series win where you could see Heyward embracing Baez in the locker room and telling him something.
  15. I must be the only Waddle and Silvy guy here. They've kept me company on my drive home for work ever since I moved to the burbs.
