I need a slump buster beer to drink tonight, any suggestions?

Vodka

What was the hideous concoction, OMC I think, was ripping shots of/mixing earlier this year? I want to say it was like sierra mist and gin, either way we all should do a shot/drink of that for solidarity.

Green River and Moonshine, served out of a Civil War black powder bag and strained with Stars & Bars.

Anyone wanna discuss that weird [expletive] Jaguar ad with Stephen Hawking?

it is really weird, I'm no sure what they are trying to get at with it

"We are the masters of time and space"

Who the horsefeathers is the other guy? I get that they're trying to make Hawking seem like some sort of super villain but wtf.

Speaking of leinenkuegel or however the hell you spell it.

Its a company based in wisconsin, and usually you only see their summer shandy available nationwide, and obviously just for the summer. The rest of the year you don't hear boo from them on the east coast.

But in camden yards in baltimore they have 3-4 different exclusive Leinenkuegel vendors. At least they did this year. I was shocked to see that midwest brand as a fixture in baltimore of all places.

Is this 1999? Because leinies has been a fixture on the east coast for well over a decade, all year long.

Aren't they owned by miller now? When I was at UW-Madison they were still an independent brewery but I thought I read they got sold/bought up (while still keeping their plant in Chippewa Falls, WI.)

I don't really feel all that doom-and-gloomy, I think the Cubs will score runs in the next few games and I think this going to be a long series that goes back to Wrigley. I *do* think that my expectations have turned around immensely from the end of Game 1 till now, which is a shame. But whaddayagonnado?

Gimme some fun baseball is all I ask.

our only hope is that lackey is motivated to pitch the game of his life so he can send all his positive energy to his boy trump for the debate tonight.

(i'm only assuming lackey supports trump, but c'mon, you know he does)

I can really see Contreras being the spark plug kind of guy. If you watched the ALCS game yesterday, Encarnacion hit a two run single at one point and pretty much pounded his chest and pointed at the dugout yelling to fire up his team the whole time he ran down to first base.

Contreras is the type to do that I think.

I like to think of Contreras pounding his chest doing everyday things - gets a good parking spot, chest pound. Only has to wait a few minutes before the doctor is ready to see him, pounds his chest and he's hops up off the chair. Train arrives five seconds after he walks to the platform, pounds his chest.

I love Willson's chest pounding, if you can't tell.

Huh, I never see anything leinenkuegel but summer shandy on the east coast. And in the past 6 years I've lived in eastern PA, pittsburgh, maine, atlanta, and maryland (also Nebraska, but not east coast). I mean, I'm only 22 so it's not like I was in the beer distributor or buying beer every weekend for that entire span, but I went fairly often with my dad and looked around all the time.

I don't know if they were outright bought by Miller or if they had some kind of merger/partnership with them, but they at least did something where they are able to use Miller's supply chain/distribution/manufacturing network now.

I secured a growler of Pliny the Elder from my coworker so I'm drinking in style tonight.

I've got about half a case of bottles left but I don't think I have any cold unfortunately.

CUBS are 107-61-1 when they play a baseball game

CUBS are 4-3 in the playoffs

CUBS are 47-36-1 on the road

CUBS are 18-12 when Lackey starts

CUBS are 5-5 against the Dodgers

I'm still going to be surprised if Russell isn't playing tonight, I think Joe taking him out last night was more of a quick breather to take a step back for a few innings. I think we see the same lineup (maybe different orders slightly) as last night except Ross or Contreras is going to be catching and maybe Contreras plays over Soler but I thought Soler had some quality abs last night, he worked the counts well getting 1 BB and almost had 2nd. I think we're 5-5 against the Dodgers. 3-1 at Wrigley regular season, 1-2 at Dodger stadium regular season, then 1-2 in the playoffs

why is it this team cant hit a curve ball

I'd like to see a breakdown if this is really true.. Sure they are/have struggled against truly elite curveballs (Kershaw/Hill/Bumgarner) but almost everyone does, do they suck against all curveballs as a blanket statement or if you remove the truly elite ones are they still performing well?

the information is on fan graphs. I tried to look it up but I'm not smart and didn't know how to draw conclusions from the data.

It's just odd thinking of Hill being "Elite" at anything
