I guess you've missed the Lackey narrative on the site this year.

Guess so. I originally disliked the Lackey signing not from a "I don't like the acquisition" perspective but instead a "how can I root for this person" one, but he's grown on me.

much like a shark regrows teeth whenever its loses them while eating a seal

Maybe that's what happened to Tommy.

Im much less worried about Lackey than i am about our ability to score runs. But we're gonna get 5-6 innings of Dodger bullpen tonight, a bullpen that's also includes the dying husk of the Athenian soldier than ran the first Marathon, which is not nothing.

Then La Stella will turn out to have been the real hero (sandwich) of the series.

For the first time this year, the Dodgers also celebrated by spinning a tiny disco ball and mixing in a bit of boogie haze from a small smoke machine.

Oh horsefeathers you Dodgers, you crossed the line. That's our celebration.

Considering he is a former poster, I'm guessing he was lurking around the forum enough to know about this.

I don't know why, but that really chaps my hide.

Not really. The only times I really lurked where to see Fred's stats and get a better understanding of that game's matchups. I read several Cubs blogs/forums/etc to know enough about Cubs fans thoughts on Lackey, but the Dickbag McHorseteeth thing is new to me. Either way... it's time for him to do literally the only thing he was signed to do - win a playoff game.

I'm having an incredibly hard time believing this offense and their approach won't get back on track. They've proven over and over again this season that they have the moxie to be the team that can focus on their craft and not let the outside noise affect them.

I've never been more faithful in a Cubs team to overcome their unique odds than with this squad.

Last night tested my faith. I think it's time to get superstitious and watch the debate tonight instead.

They just look so lost at the plate it's hard to see them righting it mid-series. Especially after seeing no hope the last two games. Yea I'm fully pessimistic right now.

Miggy's got my hope though:

I agree that last night was pretty damn tough to sit through. Right around the 7th or 8th inning it occurred to me that whatever I was feeling was very similar to how I felt around 7th inning of Game 4 last series, which helped a little. We didn't go down in that series, but being down 2-1 in a best of 7 doesn't feel much worse than having to go into game 5 against Cueto would have felt.

Basically, it can turn around, very quickly. And we're obviously better than how we've been hitting. It might not happen, but it should.

Edit: This is probably more sad than hopeful, but between Arrieta's home run in game through until the 9th inning of game 4, but my calculations the offense was in a 9-68 stretch. All it takes is a couple innings to turn this around.

Yeah I'd feel better about the series if the Cubs lost like 4-3. But watching the Dodgers lefties get to Jake and then looking completely helpless at the plate for the second time in a row is testing my faith big time, especially considering Jake is our Game 7 starter and we will have to still face both the pitchers that shut us down once more in the series.

The good news is that negative vibes don't effect the team so feel how you want to feel. If they win, it won't change how awesome it will be. If they lose then you can pat yourself on the back for 'calling it' or whatever helps you sleep at night.

A loss tonight would give the Cubs a three-game losing streak for the seventh straight playoff appearance.

Proud as a peacock, this one. Strap this dude to the battering ram and let's do this thing.
