I listen to the Score altogether too much and I'm beginning to hate that Bernstein has latched onto sabermetrics in the most simpleton way possible, that is, looking only at WAR numbers and not really having any intellectual curiosity into the composite numbers that go into it, and its infected the rest of the station.

I guess its better than people just going with their gut and talking about RBIs but jesus use your brain a little.

The whole point of WAR is that it's quick and dirty. It's not meant to be parsed. It's a complicated composite of a bunch of numbers nobody really needs to or wants to understand. If you want to look deeper into a player, look at other numbers.

Tribune is saying it's looking like the wind will be blowing out 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph tomorrow

Bring your ground ball skills, Lester

Question: Do you swap Zalphabet onto the roster for Grimm to get another Lefty?

According to Levine, they might not have to as Miggy might not be on the roster due to back pain

And if its all you look at you'll have a warped and useless understanding of player value - but if you're a radio commentator, you'll keep an imperious and self-satisfied attitude

And now Spiegel is clowning on him for his slavish devotion to Fangraphs which is fine

I didn't even think about the fact that if Kershaw can't go until Game 3, that pushes Hill to Game 4 and unable to start 2 games on normal rest. That means only 2 of the first 6 games would be started by Kershaw or Hill.

My god. Kaplan and Rogers talking about bunting on the radio. Kap ranting about not being able to get a bunt down. He thinks Maddon would call for a bunt with anyone on the roster. They even brought up the Sveum bunting tournament. Ok...sure.

Why on earth would you voluntarily listen to non-game Chicago sports radio ever?

Got your back.

Kenta Maeda is pretty darn tough on righties, especially looking at the peripherals. But man, I'd still be tempted to start Soler tomorrow to take advantage of that wind, as there isn't a wind strong enough to help Heyward.

Hendricks just said that tomorrow he'll go over his opponent the way he normally does the day before his start. So sounds like he's going game 2.

anybody that asked any question remotely close to that should have their credentials revoked, what a waste of horsefeathering time

It was something comparing him dealing with Boston Curses and Chicago Curses. :banghead:
