I'm so excited for things to get going.

I've been confident the whole way, but this morning I woke up and had the thought "three losses and just like that they're done" and I nearly doubled over.

Ughhhh I have the utmost confidence that the Cubs will be the better team against anyone they face, but I'm gonna be freaking out during the games.

yeah i don't think the expecations last year vs this year are even remotely comparable. i don't think it matters much, either, but yeah.

The understanding of how the playoffs work is keeping me in check...somewhat. Obviously I want them to win really bad and I don't want to listen to stupid Cardinal or Sox fans if we don't.

A lot of the glaring weaknesses from last year's team have been fixed. Great D, excellent bullpen, our team doesn't strike out a massive amount anymore, excellent starting pitching depth etc. We're not invincible or anything but you can't point to anything besides "the pressure of the moment" as a big negative, and Maddon does a great job keeping everyone loose.

I feel pretty good since I think we can win any type of game we have to play, but obviously they play the games for a reason.

FWIW, I don't mean my expectations, but the general public's. Mine going into the playoffs are always more or less the same, even though obviously, having witnessed such an awesome regular season, you don't want it tainted by a crappy playoff run.

In honor of the playoffs starting tomorrow I present to you this video.

I've literally been looking for video of this since it happened 13 years ago. Patiently waiting for someone to post it to YouTube. It was finally posted one week ago. Aramis Ramirez hits 2 HRs and drives in 6 in Game 4 of the 2003 NLCS:

I missed that first inning because my mom wanted me to run to the store with her. She swore we'd get back in time. Nope.

Also game 2 of that series just got posted the other day.

So guessing lineup is....

Fowler CF (S)

Bryant LF ®

Rizzo 1B (L)

Zobrist 2B (S)

Russell SS ®

Heyward RF (L)

Baez 3B ®

Ross C ®

Lester P (L)

Debated with switching Heyward and Russell but wanted to avoid 3 straight righties in the lineup

I'm 99% sure that's it and would be my guess. Only other variations I could see would be Javy at 2B and Zobrist in LF or 1 of Coghlan/Soler in LF and Bryant at 3B with Javy coming in late for defense/pinch running and staying in the game.

Yep, that's a winner. Having Javy at 3rd comforts me on so many levels. Love to get Soler's bat in the line up to see if he can replicate last October, but having Javy down there is huge. I wouldn't mind Zorbrist in LF, Bryant 3B, and Javy 2B. Basically, get Javy out there.

I totally get it, understand it, and expect it, but the potential for those last 4 in the lineup to be blackholes makes me hesitate for a second and kinnnnda contemplate Coghlan.
