Dempster is fine and cool and the thing I was mad at him for got us Kyle Hendricks instead of Randall Delgado, so I don't care about that anymore.

 

His impressions are awful but that's a far cry from why Ditka is a terrible waste of human DNA.

They've announced people at games for that for a long time, but it seems like it's usually a kid or someone that won an auction or something dumb like that. I don't' remember it being a celebrity gig.

 

Wonder if he'll get any boos based on his politics.

No kidding? I guess I'm not paying attention to all that pregame stuff as I've never noticed. Regardless, Ditka seems like an odd choice.

It's annoying on our end too. It removes itself automatically at a certain post count, but screw that...I manually removed it. I think.

as we've talked about (and made fun of me) ad nauseam for, i will be at a concert for most of tomorrow night's game. i still haven't decided if, after I watch the first couple innings at the bar, i will continue to follow the game on my phone at the concert or try to avoid finding anything out and watching on DVR when I get home.

 

It's got to be damn near impossible to avoid hearing an update at a big concert in Chicago with today's technology.

 

 

 

Yep, I was at a Jason Isbell show last year on the first game of the NLDS. Couldn't take 2 steps without someone telling the score, then the final It didn't help I was wearing a Cubs shirt.

 

I went to Lion King musical with my now wife on a Thursday night where the Bears were playing the Dolphins. This was like 2010ish, smart phones were out there and fairly common but not like today. During intermission, I put headphones on to avoid accidentally overhearing someone checking their phones and discussing the game. My wife was mortified at how ridiculous I was being, but I was taping the damn game and wanted to watch it. On the way home, my wife put on the country station and I figured it was relatively safe. About 3 minutes from home, the DJ came on in between songs and said "Hope you enjoyed your Thursday night and Go Bears! Big win tonight over the Dolphins". SOB, SO CLOSE!

 

Anyways I then vowed never to attempt to avoid a sports result when I cant watch live.

you're probably right. i was just hoping that with the concert going on, there's not much for me to overhear, and then I'd just try making a bee line for my car going LALALA with my ears covered.

You are going to a hip hop concert sober enough to drive home? Wtf is going on?

It's kind of weird that the Cubs were the first team to clinch the playoffs, but will be the last playoff team to play, with one playoff team already having played 3 games by the time the Cubs step on the field.

 

Heck the Blue Jays will be 2/3rds of the way to the ALCS by the time the Cubs play if their score holds

it's not that weird since they almost go hand in hand to some extent
