With a day game that shouldn't be super terrible. Normal 3 hour game and they'd be on a plane by 7 or 8 at the latest, which puts them in LA by 9 or 10 at the latest. It'd be better if Game 3 was a night game, but I don't think anyone will be sleep deprived. Basically a day game after night game once you consider travel.

Is anyone concerned about facing Kershaw and Hill in games 1-2 if the Cubs face the Dodgers in the NLCS?

Well I tried to get MLB to let them play the Twins or something but it turns out that when you get this deep you have to face some good players to win.

Kershaw obviously is going to concern anyone. But Hill? A 36 year old who's started 24 games the past 7 seasons? Not the least bit concerned about having to face him.

How much stock do you put into past post season success? Post season Kershaw hadn't lives up to regular season Kershaw standards. Hill still has sample size caution all over him.

I kind of love facing lefties with this team. Throw all of them you want at Bryant, Baez, Soler and Contreras/Ross.

I don't buy the Kershaw post-season narrative -- he's still the best pitcher on the planet irregardless of some mediocre post season performances in his past. Hill I look at as a guy that could be very effective with that curve against some of the Cubs' younger hitters.

Emphasis on could - he looks hittable today.

Assuming the Cubs take care of business, I really don't have a huge preference either way. Wouldn't mind seeing it go 5 games though. That would likely guarantee Scherzer/Kershaw wouldn't go game 1. Edited by Bruno7481

That's pretty much what I'm rooting for. I'd probably rather play the Nats but I'll be happy as long as it goes 5. That would knock out Kershaw/Scherzer until Game 3.

That would still give him 2 NLCS starts including game 7. But I get wanting to delay that second Kershaw start until as late as possible because there's a chance if he pitches 1 and 5, he can come in relief in game 7 if necessary. Plus you'd hope to finish them off before he can get a second start

Look at this guy talking like it goes to game 7.

I like to consider what happens in all scenarios like what if Jason Hammel starts the first 6 games of the series?

Im not particularly fearful of either team, both have great staffs who present their own problems

I'll get irrationally upset about Tanner Roark shutting down the Cubs offense. I know he's a pretty good pitcher, but his name is lame and he allows a lot of balls in play, so I'll be annoyed by weak contact.

yes, he has started 24 games the past 7 seasons. or the past 1 or so. and he has been very very good in those starts, to the tune of over 10 K/9, 2.45 bb/9, a 2.00 ERA, 2.37 FIP, and 3.18 xFIP (mainly because he has held teams to 0.39 HR/9).

in other words, your dismissive tone seems pretty damn silly. if he's healthy and available, he's not fun to face.

I don't really prefer one team over the other, but I will say playoff Scherzer is scarier than playoff Kershaw. Outside of that I'm not particularly fearful of any of Hill,Maeda,Roark or Gio. The most worrying team left in the playoffs is the Blue Jays by far. Stroman and Sanchez are studs and their offense is just steam rolling Ranger's pitching. That line up can put up an 8 spot regardless of pitcher on any given night.
