Not sure Kershaw on short rest was wise.

I love when panic filled teams start their ace on short rest in Game 4 and it backfires. Normally I'd say do whatever you have to do to win Game 4 before you worry about Game 5, but when there is a chance that your Game 4 starter will have less than his best stuff plus will not be able to throw as many pitches, it seems like an unnecessary move.

Yeah you need to win both game 4 and 5, I understand if you don't win game 4 without Kershaw there is no game 5. But the endgame is to win the series. Kershaw on normal rest would have been best.

Especially with his injury problems this year, and looking less-than-stellar in game 1.

And they still have to go Urias/bullpen game for game 5, right? So u have to win with that anyways

Yeah, I guess they could hypothetically throw Hill on 3 days rest. But they will be opposed by Scherzer.

Yeah, the reason teams sometimes so it is to get their Game 2 starter back in Game 5 on normal rest but LA can't do that anyway.

not to give reynolds the benefit of the doubt but i think he literally meant the worst outcome of the outcomes they would want. not the worst actual outcome. and it's still nonsense that isn't worth saying, but it's not as egregious as he's making it seem.

So Kershaw would pitch games 2/6 in the LCS?

Not even close to a swing, how does the ump not even ask for help?

It's probably completely anecdotal but I feel like I've seen the homeplate umps call the check swing for a strike by themselves far more, rather than asking for help from the 1B/3B ump, this year than I have in the past

there have been so many of those this season, I wonder if they'd maybe implement a system next year where the home plate ump can ask the base ump if he had a different opinion after the fact

Just for fun, the likely rotations for both teams if everyone pitched on 4+ days rest

Nationals:

G1 Sat: Roark

G2 Sun: Gonzalez

G3 Tue: Scherzer

G4 Wed: Ross

G5 Thu: Roark

G6 Sat: Gonzalez

G7 Sun: Scherzer

A bit scary having Scherzer waiting for a game 7 that I assume we will never have to play, but winnable first 2 games, very winnable game 4 and the comfort of facing Gio in game 6 if necessary. Obviously this is assuming Strasburg isn't healed by Tim Tebow before the series, and why would he help out a division rival?

As for the Dodgers:

G1 Sat: Madea

G2 Sun: Kershaw

G3 Tue: Hill

G4 Wed: ??? Urias??

G5 Thu: Madea

G6 Sat: Kershaw

G7 Sun: Hill

I feel more comfortable facing Kershaw away from Dodger Stadium so would be good if both starts are at Wrigley. The thought of facing Rich Hill in a possible Game 7 at Wrigley is insanely awesome.

Yeah, I think the Dodgers should just take their chances with Urias.
