Here's to hoping he gets paid

Same....I recognize that Javy may not be the best fit for us long term but it's been hard to accept that we won't have Javy moments to enjoy anymore. I had more fun watching him play baseball than any player in my life except maybe 98 Sammy. He was certainly frustrating as hell at times, but he more than made up for it with highlight plays and moments. I'll always appreciate that Javy's last big moment in a Cubs uniform was that baller walkoff against Garrett.

I'm terrified of re-signing Javy, but would love for him to get paid. If he can get big money to stay in NYC and hang out with Frankie Lindor that's ideal IMO.

Of course, this assumes we go big game hunting at SS and sign someone fun like Marcus Semien and not someone depressing like the hollowed out husk of Andrelton Simmons.

Hope he gets paid but glad it isn’t us. I think any sort of big deal for him will end up being bad, I don’t see him aging well. He gave us a ton of fun moments but fine being doing with it.

On the flip side....

https://dawindycity.com/2021/10/29/chicago-cubs-rumors-javier-baez-reunion-likely/

It would appear that there is already smoke to the idea that Baez will be returning to the Cubs’ this off-season. While reviewing the free-agent class on his podcast, MLB insider Jon Heyman mentioned that he believes the Cubs will be getting Baez back this off-season.

In what has been widely reported, Heyman confirmed that the Cubs and Baez were close on an extension prior to the start of the pandemic and the two could return to that framework this winter.

Goodbye buddy, I'm glad he's getting paid

I'm surprised he turned down the Cubs offer of 3 years, $21 million to return.

Good one!

javy in detroit just feels like an odd fit

So did Miggy.

he had already come from the marlins though. javy feels like he belongs on a high profile team where he can feed off the electricity of the city

That's how Detroit sees itself, though.

He'll liven it up for sure but Detroit is still such a depressing park for him to play. It's like he went to the AL Pirates. Javy should have as big a platform as possible

Their opening weekend was well attended, and then it turned into an abandoned building yesterday

I don't know for sure what the weather is in Detroit, but on the west side of the state it's been in one of those stupid gray areas where it's not quite freezing but it's too cold to do anything outside for extended periods.
