Rondon has faced 9 hitters this year.

None have reached base.

7 have struck out.

But spring!

I called stupid Jesse Rogers out for his hot taek on Rondon's spring and he pretended like he didn't make anything of it.

I was at work for the entire game, keeping track on Gameday, and I knew the first thing I had to do when I got home was fire up the Reds feed and bask in Brenneman's call of the last couple innings. I was not disappointed.

Great win. I don't remember the last time I was going that crazy during a game in April. Nice job, Addison. I really hope he can put a big year offensively. That would be a major boost to an already stacked line-up. That was a big hit for J-Hey, too. He's a notorious slow starter and struggles against lefties. And he came up really big in his first home game as a Cub. Great to see. And, despite a ridiculously generous zone, even if you credit Ross some for his pitch framing, Rondon looked fantastic again. This team just keeps rolling. #wearenotgood #weareamazinggood

I enjoy this string of three consecutive posts from the same poster at GatewayRedbirds:

9:18 p.m.: finnegans paintin

9:28 p.m.: finnegan loses the no hit bid...bases are juiced for heyward....do you what you do best j-hey

9:59 p.m.: and the cubs are winning

Don't worry, buddy; there will be plenty more of that to go around this season.

I liked the guy right before that:

I'm fully aware that the Cubbies will rally, break up the no-no and win this by the score of eleventy billion to 3, but it's been fun so far.

Yep.

Yeah, it's makes for a nice little short story. It runs the gamut of emotions. I think that four-post stretch will be a microcosm of their summer.

I'm torn. I absolutely loved him playing it tonight. And part of me thinks it would be cool to hear it once per game, as a nod to Starlin, and because it is awesome. But, part of me says we need to move on from the past to other fun and exciting new things. Eh, [expletive] it, play it very game.

Did Rizzo use a different walk up song each time he batted tonight like he did last year? I'd love it if he used it once per game.

lol, pitcher batting 8th. I feel like we should play a few games with our pitcher hitting 2nd just to see if the rest of the league will follow. 2nd place hitter needs to bunt a lot, right? Perfect!

In fairness to the Reds, they could be hitting the pitcher 8th because he's genuinely a better hitter than Billy Hamilton.

That game was so amazing. Although I did have to bounce around with my MLB TV feed when Len and Jim went silent in the 5th or 6th. Happily, they were back in the 7th and 8th. That's the second time that's happened already this season where there is crowd noise, but no announcers.

Just watched the highlights. HAHA. Neither of those last 2 strike 3 calls were actual strikes.

I'm pretty sure the ump told Schebler something to the effect of, "it's their home opener" after calling that last strike.

The Score is gonna play the Reds broadcast call of the Russell homer shortly, if anyone is interested.

After XZero mentioned it last night I rewatched that and the last couple outs. Some great great Thomenfreude there, after he flatly says there's been a home run, he goes silent until after the next at bat is underway. Same thing with Rondon's 2nd strikeout, didn't actually say the hitter struck out, and didn't talk again until after Strike 1 on the pinch hitter.

did they play it yet?

Edit: nevermind I heard it. That was as monotone of a call as you will ever hear.
