I wonder if Jake gave him the PEDs he was taking last year. Would make sense with the recovery and God Mode dying. Team player, Arrieta

If you want to imagine him hitting in The Jake

It's easy to identify the Jake with less than 15,000 people in the stands.

When asked about Kyle Schwarber's availability for the World Series, Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein said, "We're not ruling anything in, we're not ruling anything out."

Manager Joe Maddon confirmed there's a "chance" Schwarber could DH if the Cubs advance to the World Series. Schwarber resumed batting practice on Monday after being cleared by Dr. Daniel Cooper at his six-month check-up following ACL surgery. He's also slated to begin playing for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League on Saturday. If the Cubs do get past the Dodgers, the DH will be available for Games 1, 3, 6 and 7.

The thing I remember most about Schwarber's first homerun was the dude in the A's shirt who caught it. He was really handsy with his young girlfriend when the camera panned to them afterward, then JD went into full on dad mode which was really funny.

The thing about taking Schwarber is, there doesn't seem to be a lot of risk in taking him, provided he's physically able to play. He can pinch hit, DH, and guarantee not to play the field. If after a game or 2, they deem him just not ready, they can swap him out for the rest of the series, IIRC.

I love this team.

Ahh yes the old 1-1-1-2-2 format

I think SchwarBombs is coming to the WS! Epstein just on mlbnetwork was his usual articulate self saying its day to day evaluating Schwarber but added his swing looks great, he ripped a good pitcher in BP yesterday & added if anyone can do it.. Kyle can..

Hahahahahahaaaa! That's outstanding.

So is the consensus that they'll stick with the pitching schedule and have Jake pitch game 1? I ask because I assume Montero will be catching just out of the hope it keeps Jake effective, and then Contreras will DH. Then you have Ross catching game 2, so again, Contreras as the DH. Schwarber coming back would be awesome, but if he's not catching, I kinda want Contreras still in the lineup without having to play him in the OF, so maybe we just see Schwarber as a PH option.

I would assume they'll reset as best they're able. Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks, Lackey.

Don't say that like I'm going to spend any time looking that up right now, or ever. What are the preferred matchups? Edited by Sammy Sofa

I guess I'm just kinda asking if people prefer Schwarber as the DH or Contreras if he's not catching.

Depends on Schwarber's level of sharpness I guess. If he's back to being himself, then I'd rather he get those at bats and insert Contreras after Lester/Arrieta leave the game. I'm very suspicious of that being the case though.

yeah, I'll trust the team on that evaluation.

Now, if we need a LH PH at some point, I'm ALL for Schwarbs vs Cogs/SealBoy

Yeah, you shouldn't need that bench spot for the games in Cleveland with the DH. If he looks lost you could always throw him back on the DL. I do trust him to give you good at-bats, work the count, and make contact even if he isn't locked in.

Hopefully he's hitting real pitching again today, tomorrow, and tuesday so he can get as sharp as he can.

Depends on the opposing SP

The Indians currently have 2 LHP on their roster, one being Andrew Miller, and the other a swing man named Ryan Merritt who's pitched a total of 15 big league innings between the regular and post season.

I believe he can only play 1 more game this week. He's on the AFL "taxi squad" meaning he can only play 2 days a week.

Anyways from what I've heard Schwarber was 0-2 with a walk, but one of the outs was a liner that the fielder made a nice play on. He was catching up to the fastball but his timing was off on breaking balls. Overall a pretty positive report.
