We're gonna be down 2 with runners on first and 2nd. Bottom of the 9th. Game 7 5. Clinching game. NLCS World Series. It was a hard fought battle and as a result most of the bench is expended. The opposing team has their hard throwing right handed closer going Indians have Andrew Miller throwing. He's been shut down all year long. This is the one to get us to win the World Series. The only bat options on the bench are pitchers, and I don't think Jon Lester is up for playing hero. Or Joe could call upon... the secret weapon. Joe steps out of the dugout and looks to the top of the scoreboard and points, as if he's calling his shot. Then out of nowhere "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" begins to play.

 

"BAH GAWD THAT'S KYLE SCHWARBER'S MUSIC, LEN!", J.D. will exclaim. The cameras will all turn to what Joe is pointing at, and then from the top of the scoreboard, descending like an angel from heaven, Kyle Schwarber will zipline down like a horsefeathers champion...

In fact he hit the ball so far MLB decided to break the rules and reward him with a grand slam for hitting the longest home run in postseason history, something the opposing manager was like "No, that's fair, he deserves it".

I didn't think there was any possible way that I would want the Cubs to make the WS more than I already did, but here we are.

 

Would be so amazing to see Schwarbs take an AB in the World Series after his first full MLB season was robbed from him, I don't care what the result.

The reason why Szczur isn't on the roster now still wouldn't have changed. He and Almora are redundant, with Almora being better defensively.

I think it's non-zero, but not nearly as high as 20%.

I say 5% because every once in a while this FO does some crazy aggressive horsefeathers when you think they might err on the side of caution. Plus he seems pretty far along in his recovery already. But the reality is it'd be really hard for him to get up to game speed (even though we do have a massive lead and a bunch of basically meaningless games coming up).

 

Maybe I was too low. Maybe UM was right. But the bold is still exactly right.

HEY guys, hey I said there was a chance too btw! I said there was like a 1% or slightly greater than 1% chance of Schwarber coming back this year. I was praying for this possiblity, but I never thought it would actually happen.

 

TT wasn't wrong -- no one thought there was a realistic chance of him coming back this year.

 

Man we need Schwarber from last year's postseason. I miss that guy:
