How does Soler wind up with an OPS over .800? That seems like a stretch.

He was at .769 this year.... With a .275 BABIP, which with his profile/speed that's probably accurate and in the range of where he likely should be. But with any combination of a little more BABIP luck, slight uptick in BB rate and/or power and little decline in k rate he relatively easily can get there. It's not really a "stretch."

Do we have a thread on 2017 projections yet. Sorry for linking crappy BCB but he lists Bill James projections. If these came true, especially offensively, I would be thrilled.

If Contreras OPSs .877 and those bullpen numbers hold up, the league may have to disband the Cubs for the good of the sport.

*plugs numbers into spreadsheet*

"Bill I have here that the cubs are expected to win 175 games next year?"

Figured this is so delicious, it goes here and not the Cards thread.

That's actually really tempting. Opening Day, a Sunday game, then... wait those Sept games will be meaningless, nevermind.

Looks like the pic he linked is from a protected account...can't see it.

I just found myself thinking about the Florida Marlins and Loria's roster teardowns after they would push all-in for a season.

Just imagine how bad it would suck if Tom Ricketts was like "well, that was great. Now Theo, I need you to get rid of everybody."

You shut your mouth.

Go sing 12 Go Cubs Gos and take a dump on Dusty's spot in the dugout.

Those involved rosters full of older and very expensive players that were cashed in to replenish the farm for another run later. The Cubs aren't lacking for young, cheap talent- at least not yet.

guys hes not saying he thinks its going to happen, hes just saying that he thought about how much it would suck to win a title and feel what were feeling right now, only to see it stripped apart weeks later a la the marlins.

its okay heyward. however you perform now, that rain delay speech will always make you a $180 mil player in my heart <3

I guess the nice thing is he was so bad that there's nothing to lose by doing drastic things.

Pretty much, hopefully we at least can find 2013 Heyward in the adjustments this offseason.

Man, remember when he came up and he had the Griffey, Jr. comps? That'd be neat if he achieved those next year.

I'll take the last 4-5 years of Ken Griffey SR's career offensively at this point...
