lmao. i thought maybe there would be something about the hazing stuff in the actual entry, but not even.

Theo and Vedder were playing drunk catch and taking BP at 5 in the morning after Game 6 of the NLCS.

These past two seasons and the next 5 are shaping up to be a golden age of Cubs baseball. It should be fantastic.

It's human nature to even look ahead of that and wonder what comes next. However I have faith that even without Theo (if he decides to move on) this will continue to be a smartly run organization. PTR knows what's up.

that espn cover is very cool but i kinda would rather someone like KB or Rizz were on there

then again, the cavs have JR smith up there so who cares

Theo basically came in and said: Look, this isn’t the place to be. We need to bottom out and acquire as much young talent as possible.

“It’s one thing to say that, but it’s another thing to just hit as many home runs as Theo hit. It’s the Addison Russell trade. Incredible. It’s getting (Jake) Arrieta and (Pedro Strop) for (Steve) Clevenger and (Scott Feldman). Bam. (It’s being) fortunate enough to get Kris Bryant (with the No. 2 pick in the 2013 draft) after the (Houston Astros took Mark) Appel.

“Theo had an obsession with Kyle Schwarber from the year before. And coming into the (2014) draft, ‘Schwarbs’ didn’t have a phenomenal junior year. (Area scout) Stan Zielinski and Theo both deserve a ton of credit for ‘Schwarbs,’ because they never wavered at all.

“The plan is great. There are a lot of teams that are trying to execute the same model. But what they don’t have is Theo.”

I just watched the bottom of the 9th of Game 7 again and holy horsefeathers that was more nerve wracking than I forgot. Chapman had nothing, and Kipnis had a great at-bat (worked a full count, just missed dumping one in the RF corner, had some good hacks, swung and missed at ball 4) and really got bailed out by the Kipnis K and Lindor popping out on the first pitch.

I still get that nervous butterfly feeling seeing those sliders hang. That was the scariest 1-2-3 inning I have ever watched.

It felt like an inning where a pitcher is pitching in a blowout and you just hope the hitters cant square it up.

and lost in the cute image of Bryant smiling during the third out is that if he sails that throw just a few degrees more, the winning run is on 2nd. God im so glad i dont have to live through those innings ever again without knowing that we win

After reading some of the most recent posts, I don't feel so bad now that I still get anxious just thinking about the final innings, let alone watching them.

Feels tremendous that we won that. A loss would have been the perfect narrative for Cubs haters or story tellers, about how Joe Maddon's managing can be added to the list with Durham and Bartman and the Goat.

Instead, the Cubs won and everything is allllllllllll good pretty much forever now.

Okay I'm far from a professional writer but I've always been under the impression a writer adds things in parenthesis to provide further context to attributed quotes when people say things like someones first or last name only. What the horsefeathers is going on in this paragraph?

What he probably said:

“It’s one thing to say that, but it’s another thing to just hit as many home runs as Theo hit. It’s the Addison Russell trade... Incredible. It’s getting Arrieta and Stropy for Clevenger and Whatshisface. Bam... Fortunate enough to get Kris Bryant after the Stros took Appel."
