that video almost wants me long for one more season of Ross. Almost.

I think having him a bench coach next year would be ideal and amazing.

if their season keeps heading south, #WhiteSox should put #Cubs Way to work for them. Column #ICYMI https://t.co/YN4N6qX33v

Noted shitty columnist Haugh twists the knife a bit further into the gut of White Sox fans with the Cubs Way.

Rossy has grown on me, and i'd actually be upset if he wasn't apart of the staff next year

I like that David Haugh spent the last 4 years whining and second guessing Theo and Jed and now, without a single mea culpa or anything, just goes and uses the Cubs to bash the White Sox

Sure, whatever

The dude is totally shameless

Noted [expletive] columnist Haugh twists the knife a bit further into the gut of White Sox fans with the Cubs Way.

I don't think this guy in the comments really understands what "development" is (or that the Cubs FO DID draft Rizzo, just when they were with another team). And apparently Schwarber is dead to him, I guess:

"The Cubs drafted and developed their way to the top of the National League..."

Mr. Haugh, do you realize that only two players on the Cubs 25 man roster were drafted & developed by the Cubs current regime - Almora & Bryant?

I stopped reading pretty much at that point, seeing as the premise to the commentary was wrong.

The 2016 Cubs are where they are because of savvy trades and free-agent acquisitions.

The funny thing though, is it could be Hahn or Kenny making that comment.

Baez? Szczur?

Well, with Baez I'm assuming he realizes that he was drafted by the previous FO.

I read his dumb assed point too quickly and missed that part. He excludes Soler because he was an IFA signing. Baez & Szczur because they were drafted by the former regime. Russell, Hendricks because they were brought in through trades.

He kind of screws up, though because I believe Rizzo was both drafted by this regime and almost entirely developed by this regime.

Also Joe Maddon is singlehandedly responsible for making Zobrist the player he is, so we kinda developed him in a round about way. Or at least I'd make that argument to that idiot just to grind his gears.

I always love these complaints from rival fans, because they are true.

"Stop complimenting them on their player development! They're not only good at drafting guys; they are good at everything!"

Last year we kept updating the "We haven't been this far above .500 since xxx?" That's going to continue to be sometime in September/October 2015 until we reach 32.

Then it will be dates in September 2008 from 33-35. September 24, 2008 was the last time the Cubs were 35 above.

At 36 games above we will have to go as far back as 1945. On September 30, 1945 the Cubs finished the season at their high point of 42 games over.

On September 27, 1935 they were 48 games over before dropping the last two games of the season to end September with a 23-3 record in the month and finish the season 46 games over. They were also 48 games over September 15, 1929.

October 15, 1910 they finished the season 54 over. 108-54 would be 54 games over in a 162 games season.

October 6, 1909 they finished 55 over and did not go to the World Series (Pittsburgh).

October 6, 1907 they were 63 over.

October 4, 1906 the were 80 over. To reach 80 over we would have to finish 121-41.

Damn, I almost forgot that I should only farm Cubs Reddit for content, not actually to engage in any discussions with the posters. Someone today commenting me saying that nothing I've seen from Russell this season has changed my expectations for his ceiling.

I'm not sure age is any excuse we should be proud of. We've seen plenty of guys dominate pitching at age 20/21 in their first full seasons. It's at least concerning that he really hasn't shown anything in the way of power/average/OBP/base stealing.

The way he was hyped (Barry Larkin) we expected high average, decent power, and maybe like 20 steals. He hasn't shown any ability to hit for a decent average, minimal power, and only 6 steals in 200 games. To not at least be concerned at this point seems silly.

Although I would be more concerned if we didn't have Torres waiting in case he doesn't figure it out. And if he continues tanking this year I'm perfectly ok starting Javy at SS come October.
