The Cubs BABIP is a concern in their quest to win 115 games, it is not a concern as it relates to the actual strength of the team or postseason success.

Which is why I put that disclaimer, but thanks for verifying that. And thank's Duke and David for your informative answers. Glad I have good baseball minds to bounce things like this off of.

If you look at the Cardinals last year and their crazy high LOB%, it was unquestionably due to luck. They had a slightly above average defense and a merely good pitching staff. Their BABIP given up was .297. They were getting sequencing luck. We have been good at getting guys out in every situation imaginable. We have a great pitching staff and a great defense -- possibly the best in the league in both regards. And if you look at practically any way to measure what kind of contact pitchers give up, again, the Cubs are great. It's just not much of a concern at all. We really are great at every facet of baseball. As such, some things might look weird. But you can't declare it all due to luck. We're just really good. Some of it probably is luck, but I wouldn't even know how to go about quantifying how much of it is. And while we should expect some of these numbers to go up, they are still, most likely, going to be the best in the league.

Wintrust says they will donate $1mil to Cubs Charities if a Cub can hit the Wintrust sign with a HR.

So who could maybe get one there? Bryant and Javy, maybe? Thats a long ways

Soler, Schwarber (RIP)

EDIT: that'd be oppo for Schwarber, so probably not.

Bryant, Javy and Soler probably all could in the perfect conditions in BP. In a real game it seems near impossible. Bryant's hit one off the board twice? in a game I think but still didn't come close.

I honestly think Bryant is probably the only one capable of getting the loft. That would be a HIGH home run. Think about how lofted his shot off the board was last year, and it was what, 20 feet low?

Yeah. It's never going to happen.

There's only one man with the power and skill to hit the Wintrust sign, and that is Samuel P. Sosa.

Glenallen Hill would like a word with you.
