There are 11 Cubs players with 70+ PA's. 9 of them have a BB% greater than 10%. Javy is obviously one of the two that does not. Can you name the other one without looking it up?

I was surprised.

Let's see...there's no way it's Zobrist, Fowler, Rizzo, or Heyward. Soler has a good walk rate. Ross, Montero, or La Stella wouldn't be surprising. That leaves Bryant and Russell.

I'll say Bryant since Russell walked a ton in the 8 spot.

Yeah, Bryant's have a weird year with his walks. Granted, he's still walking a respectable amount. Part of it is probably that he is making more contact, so ABs aren't getting as deep into the count. But he's swinging at about exactly the same amount of balls and strikes. It's just that pitchers are throwing the ball in the zone to him more often this year. And that's not exactly working well for them, either.

The Cubs have a shot to tie the ML record with 4 20-game winners, if everyone stays healthy. Right now, Arrieta, Lester, Lackey and Hammel are all on pace to win 20. If Hendricks gets a little luckier, they have an even better shot at 5 guys with 16 wins, which is also a record....last done by the 1998 Braves.

Reds relievers have allowed 167 runs. The Cubs entire pitching staff has allowed 168.

Damn it Richard.

there's no way that's true. holy [expletive]

They had a stretch where they gave up at least 1 run in every game to start the year for like the first 20 some odd games. I think their doom spiral started in that early season series with us.

Now there's a twitter account @CrazyCubsStats that is posting the insanity that is the 2016 Cubs. Like...

The #Cubs have a winning record (4-3) when they allow 6 runs or more.

2, 3, 4, 5 and 14 in the NL. Absurd.

EDIT: I just realized that Lackey is the team leader, which is maybe the most absurd of all considering he gave up 18 baserunners in his first 2 starts.

Since then, he's proved his ex was truly graced by his presence and should be thankful for the time they had together.

BP has the Cubs' third-order win percentage at .796.

That's a 129-win pace. In June.

Just for fun, 2nd order has us at .801, which would round to 130.
