I eagerly await the rationale behind the Brewers being upset a Friday day game is moved to be a night game. I'm sure it will be reasoned and nuanced and not at all like the ridiculous mewling they did about the rainout earlier this year.

They are pissed off about losing a scheduling advantage, plain and simple. The Brewers have the day before off while the Cubs have a night game in Pittsburgh.

What's the rationale behind scheduling the Cubs for a night game in Pittsburgh anyway on getaway day? The Brewers should actually be mad at MLB for the schedule.

With today's win, we cross the 90 win pace threshold for the first time since we were 6-4 (i think)

they were 16-12 before that nightmarish yankees series

ah good catch

was at a sheetz gas station in greenville, nc today with my MB pelicans hat on and the guy behind me in line saw it and tells me that they went to a pelicans game (i assume in MB on vacation based on the story) and met the owner or GM (he couldn't remember). Anyway, they got to talking and this owner/GM/cubs "person" and he let his little girl (appeared about 8 or so from the pic) wear his cubs world series ring and she was wearing a cubs hat so i assume dad was a cubs fan, too. i was waiting on food to be prepared and the guy left after he bought gas or whatever so didn't have much time to talk to him. but pretty cool that i wear a cubs minor league affiliate hat in this eastern NC city and came into contact with a guy that saw a legit Cubs WS ring this summer on his own kids finger.

From spring training...... I don't think it's really tinkering so much as saying "hey guy maybe we look at you stop doing and changing that thing that aggravates your back injury you had surgery on last year along with maybe alleviate possible other injuries you've had your entire life." It's not like they were re-working all of his mechanics or changing how or what pitches he threw. I'd guess almost every pitcher throughout the year is looking at and making sure their release/landing points are in line with where they want it to be with the coaches.

Whenever the Cubs bring in a pitcher who’s had some struggles–be it injury or mechanics–the Cubs coaching staff seems to find a way to get the best out of them. Pitching coach Chris Bosio has helped Anderson make a small adjustment, trying to get him to less on the heel and more on the ball of his foot. It’s been a change for Anderson.

“It felt kind of awkward the first couple times because I’ve thrown the same way since I could walk and talk,” he said. “I feel strong and I feel more directional toward the plate than rotational. It’s been good so far.”

One of Bosio's ongoing projects is Brett Anderson, who underwent surgery to repair a bulging disc in his lower back last March, yet another injury in a career that hasn't lived up to his own expectations.

"It's one of those things where he's not trying to reinvent the wheel," Anderson said. "It's more trying to limit the pressure on my back and mild mechanical adjustments where I don't land on my heel as much and kind land on the ball of my foot or my toes, so it's not such a whiplash effect.

"He's had a good track record with health, especially the last couple years, and hopefully I can fall in line there, too.”

are you unfamiliar with sheetz or just doubtful of gas station food? i could get the mentality of the latter, but it's basically just like any fast food place on the inside except you order your food through a touch screen monitor. i mean the food is kinda "meh" but it's comparable to any other FF joint. lately i've really liked their flatbread turkey sausage sandwich (turkey sausage/grilled oninons/eggs/cheese) which i'm sure is probably frozen for the most part. but it's quick and cheap and efficient and they serve it all day.

i also hold very low standards for food so take this take with a grain of salt.

for reference, i have a 12 pack of busch light in my fridge. i've found if you lower your expectations (or are too broke to do anything else) then you're slightly happier. basically, it's all the same horsefeathers if you squint hard enough.

Their breakfast sandwiches are really good. Better than youll find at any fast food place. That pretzel roll sandwich bun is great.

I am familiar with Sheetz, but kept picturing those day old dogs slowly spinning on heated metal rollers. Was also just a stab at some humor. No offense should be taken. :D

none taken I assure you!

yeah, it's "made to order" which i guess is just a way of saying they are unfreezing it. but it's pretty much like any fast food joint. their hot dogs are 2 for a dollar but they aren't on the metal rolling thing. they somewhat prepare them. like i said, it's not gourmet but they do have some select items that are pretty good. it doesn't take a genius to make a good cheese stick or fried pickles but they have both of those if you'd like to chop a week off your lifespan and they are solid.

Does Sheetz have a signature item? We have Royal Farms and their thing is fried chicken which isn't bad though it depends on where you are as some are better than others.

Sheetz food is actually pretty solid. I know, gas station food is something to be leery of, but they have a whole kitchen setup. Its not just roller grill hot dogs. Their mozzarella sticks are pretty good, and I think it's kind of their signature thing. You can get hot sandwiches, subs, cold subs, breakfast food, basically any sort of fried finger food.

It is as good as any fast food place in my opinion, and comparable price-wise to anything except for dollar menu items.

Never eaten at Sheetz, but Wawa has some damn good sammiches.

heard this, too. but we don't have them around here so cannot testify.

also, sorry for derailing thread

My classmates at the school and I just took a trip to one of our classmates' parents house in NC and on the way back to the Norfolk airport we had to make a detour to go to a Wawa that our east coast folks raved about. I have to admit, it was pretty damn good.

i'm assuming they have a beach house at the outer banks?

one of my ex's stepdad was loaded and had several huge beach houses at the OBX. i miss that dearly. if you have the chance and if you enjoy tranquility you should try and visit for a weekend in the winter. there's like nothing open but a grocery store and occasional bar but the beach is just as beautiful and you feel like you are at a private island.

Not a beach house, they were in Edenton, NC. Tiny town on the Albemarle Sound.
