I eagerly await the rationale behind the Brewers being upset a Friday day game is moved to be a night game. I'm sure it will be reasoned and nuanced and not at all like the ridiculous mewling they did about the rainout earlier this year.

They are pissed off about losing a scheduling advantage, plain and simple. The Brewers have the day before off while the Cubs have a night game in Pittsburgh.

Are the Cubs even bending any rules? I wonder what the minimum amount of time allowable is to reschedule.

When was the last Friday night, non playoff, game in Wrigley? I would assume the bump is to accommodate ESPN or MLBN for a national broadcast

Welp... this will be interesting. I'm supposed to go on a bus with like 50 other people that day. Quite a few ppl will not be happy that they moved the time.

Chicago politics is completely embarrassing. They wants their dicks sucked for doing the Cubs this "favor" and had the balls to praise the Cubs for being "courteous" about asking. horsefeathers you, you [expletive].

Is there any other team in baseball that has to deal with shitty, corrupt politicians like the Cubs do?

Well, most of the other teams are busy scamming their states out of billions for new stadiums.

I'm not going to hold it against the city for actually holding the privately held enterprise to its agreeements.

Yeah, the time to be mad at the city is back when these arguments were ongoing. At this point, the city sounds like they were actually pretty horsefeathering reasonable in this particular situation.

Yup, queue the White Sox fiasco back in the late 80's threatening to move to Florida or more recently the Braves moving out of their ancient 20 year old stadium to the suburbs because the neighborhood they played in was "full of colored folk"

The city re-stating their reasons for not having Friday Night games, and people pointing out they are nonsense and therefore not some sacrifice being made, is also pretty reasonable.

Ok so if Maples, Freeman, and Martin need to be added to the 40-man who is getting DFA'd? Need 3. Frankoff, Hannemann?, Rosario or Johnson?

I see you're not familiar with Atlanta

I would think Rosario is a guarantee, and Frankoff is a very good bet. After that I could see the logic for any number of guys as the 3rd.

I have been there a few times. They wanted a stadium out in the burbs rather than have their fans drive downtown.

So, the Cubs get the least out of dealing with shitty, corrupt politicians...

Perhaps 60-day DL for Rosario given he hasn't pitched since July & minor league season nearing end? I guess I wonder why add Leonys Martin if you have Jacob Hannemann? Cubs clearly felt a need to get Martin, makes me wonder why is Hannemann on 40-man? Perhaps its experience. Hannemann has turned it around since going to Iowa this year, would have liked to see him get a shot if he was so worth protecting last season from Rule 5.

don't look now but the cubs are now 5th in MLB in runs scored, 4th in OPS, 4th in dongs, 4th in wOBA, 7th wRC+,

as for all those worries about the defense, 5th in DRS and 5th in uzr/150

Went 17-12 in August but probably should've been like 21-8 with a RD around +60

Stupid pen

Oh and we did that largely without Willy, Addy, and a broken Lester for a few starts

Frankoff and Rosario DFA as expected

Now it's between Hannemann, Leatherface, and Pierce for the last spot to make room for Martin

I hadn't realized how well Maples has induced GB and suppressed HR throughout his milb career. Only at 2 stops did he induce less than 60% GB and one of those was a 5 inning sample. He's allowed 6 HR in a little over 200 pro innings as well.

Good stuff. Hopefully he reins in the control a little but I'm not expecting much better than his AA/AAA runs this year.

Cubs RD ranks 7th in baseball (one more game against the Reds away from the DBacks for 6th) and they basically did it from a good amount (7 or 8 games) past the halfway point of the season.

I also remember the Cardinals tying (or even being ahead of us) in RD maybe 3 weeks ago. We're now nearly double theirs, lol.
