Does Willson have his own thread yet? I would create one but I can't think of a clever title for it.

Anyways, in the last month Willson has hit like a superstar.

From June 16 to July 16: .356/.411/.690/1.101, 8 2B, 7 HR

Yes his BABIP is .393 over that stretch but IDGAF. After a really slow start, Willson's season numbers are pretty damn close to last year's stellar rookie year in roughly the same number of PA.

Just under a 20% K rate in that stretch too. Even when the BABIP comes down, if he can hit for pop like that with a shaved down K rate then he's gonna be really good.

He's second in OPS amongst catchers in the NL behind Buster Posey.

And 2nd in MLB amongst catchers in fWAR although a lot of that is defensive value.

I hate when Cubs fans do this to other Cubs fans.

reminds me of something i saw at game 5 of the WS. before the game, a couple guys were standing in front of the field taking a picture holding up a W flag. some horsefeathers behind me got very angry and cussed them out loudly over it. idiots.

Yeah that is a little ridiculous but during last Saturday's (night) game, I was in the bleachers and a drunk and terrible group tried to start the wave and were shouted down by the entire rest of the bleachers and it was beautiful.

Nothing beats the idiots during game 7 that kept counting down the outs. I thought I was going to lose it.

Having good-great Hector back would be awesome

Yeah. The biggie with him is the long ball. He was great at keeping the ball in the park when he was his elite self. And that obviously hasn't been the case since he got hurt. It's been over a month -- in 11 innings of work -- since he's given up one. He'll need to limit the walks a little more, too, to get all the way back. But even this version is pretty solid if he's not giving up a ton of bombs.

I thought doing anything to win was a thing Lackey was known for or is that a perception he gets because he's a firey white guy?

Maybe it's an error (this is via MLB app) but if it's not why did Lester jump Quintana in the rotation and is starting Saturday and Quintana Sunday?

I would assume this is in deference to Lester's preference to get back on to a normal rest schedule after getting 7 days rest over the ASB, while saving Quintana's arm a little after he had WBC innings this spring.

That is correct: http://www.bleachernation.com/2017/07/19/cubs-shuffle-rotation-to-maximize-jose-quintana-deployment/

Brett theorizes it's because that change ensures Quintana faces both the divisional opponents in his next 2 starts.

I'd bet it has more to do with making sure Quintana doesn't have to pitch against the White Sox 2 weeks after being traded.
