Apologies if this was discussed elsewhere but is there anything more perfect than the fact that Trevor Cahill's nickname for the back of his jumpsuit for the upcoming road trip is "Trevor"

"Travis" would have been better

I think this is a new high for the Fangraphs projections, Cubs currently slated to win 103.3 lol

I love the 54 game benchmark, you can easily see what people are on track for by multiplying by 3:

Dexter Fowler worth 3.1 WAR (!!!) on pace for 9.3 WAR for the season (Trout levels)

Zobrist and Bryant just behind him with 2.8 and 2.6 respectively (8.4 and 7.8 WAR over a season)

Rizzo and Bryant both on pace for 39 big fat dongers

Jake Arrieta, of course, on pace for a 27-0 record lol

I keep wanting to say "Arrieta started out very very good last year too, but it wasn't til right around now until when he really caught fire. The same will probably happen this year."

And then I realize he's already currently on pace to go 27-0 with a 1.56 ERA and I feel really stupid. A couple extra BB's don't really matter when the next guys still can't hit you.

I guess 'grown up Bobby Hill' was too long for a jersey.

This might change by the end of the night but:

There are 8 teams that are at least 10 games out of 1st. Four of those are in the NL Central. No team in the AL East or AL West is 10 out.

The Pirates are 10 out. The other 5 second place teams are a combined 11 games out of 1st.

40-16 is a purrty record. I like the whole "have 50% more games over .500 than actual losses"

Wonder if we'll hit 50 wins before we hit 20 losses. This team is fun.

It's certainly possible. They'd probably have to win the next 5 against Philly and Atlanta. If they do that, they would only have to go 5-3 against Wash, Pit and StL.

If my math is correct, the Cubs are 5.5 games up on the Texas Rangers for best record in baseball.

Save yourself the math. Click on "overall" on the ESPN standings.

My math checks out! Sorry, I only use this Yahoo Sports app I've had on my phone since forever. There's probably better apps, but the whole "get off my lawn" thing.

Just looking at the upcoming schedule, looks like its about to get a little tougher. Obviously the Cubs are the best team in baseball and have played good teams really well but it should be a good test regardless.

Mentioned this the other day but yesterday kicked off stretch where 20 of 26 games are on the road. But also, after the weekend series against the Braves, the schedule looks like this:

3 - @ WAS

3 - vs PIT

3 - vs STL

4 - @ MIA

3 - @ CIN

4 - @ NYM

3 - vs CIN

1 - vs ATL

3 - @ PIT

---------ASB--------

3 - vs TEX

3 - vs NYM

3 - @ MIL

2 - @ CWS

2 - vs CWS

3 - vs SEA

3 - vs MIA

That's 36 of 46 games against teams currently over .500, although roughly half of those teams are treading water right now.

Anyways, bring it on!
