Lol. That’s so Mets. Can’t imagine how fucked up that organization is for a ~65 year old worth ~$15 billion who is a lifelong fan of the team to pull out of the deal. Buying a pro team is one of the few things those guys get irrational about buying.

An injury like that pretty much makes Stroman and Tanaka the only 2021 FA SPs of any serious interest. Kevin Gausman can make some money if he finally puts it together, still a pretty popular post-hype guy who did well in FA this year

The 2021 FA SP class is quite bad. I have no real interest in playing in the top end. Stroman and Tanaka both have their own red flags and injuries in the past. There’s also Bauer and Ray, don’t really have interest in either for their likely price and Bauer being Bauer. Desclafani is a guy I wouldn’t mind having some interest in depending on what exactly he’d cost, bringing back Q would make some sense too depending on his price. We need to find some pitching from within, if that wasn’t already clear, or find a guy or two in a trade between now and next year.

They're not not going to find pitching from within just because they pursue a top FA

It’s not that I wouldn’t want them, it’s that I don’t think I’d pay what they likely get and they all have some red flags. With the lack of top end guys their prices will likely be inflated. I think Desclafani could be had for a Lance Lynn type deal at most while the other guys are probably looking at Arrieta to Darvish type deals.

I think given the group of guys currently in the upper minors, that by next offseason we will feel good about filling one spot internally. Of course that leaves at least one more, probably two left to fill. My guess is next offseason the team will fill one rotation spot via money (either FA or Lester's option), one spot via the farm, and one spot via trade.

I don’t care about the steroid guys really. There’s a big gap to me between steroid guys and Rose.

I think that was kind of SSR’s point. Which begs the question “why even bring this up at all”?
