Yes, let's add a third team to a state that has continually shown year after year for over two decades that they don't give a horsefeathers about baseball.

No way Florida gets a 3rd MLB team.

When MLB decides to expand again I'm fine with moving the Rays to Montreal. They deserve better, but keep the Marlins in the baseball purgatory that is Miami because horsefeathers 'em.

I presume that any Orlando team would be taking either the Rays (likely) or Marlins (less likely). But no chance it'd be a 3rd Florida team, imo.

95% chance that logo was for his granddaughter's travel softball team and he showed up for a game and loved it so much offered the coach 10 grand for the rights

0% chance he offered actual cash

Look at that guy, he's completely smitten with the logo. Probably thinks he saved himself millions on branding consultants.

Add teams to Orlando, Jacksonville, and Pensacola, the relegate all of Florida to AA.

Florida is already in the SEC.

Apparently some games were already played? I had no idea.

I was very confused by the whole thing. None of the apps made note of it being a regular season game, its just next to all the spring training games. I get the reasoning and know this isn't that unique link, but 2 weeks before everybody else starts is new, no?

I feel like this has happened before the, like within the last 5 or 6 years. It's more like a week before, right?

i still remember staying up all night on a school night to watch the horsefeathering 2000 cubs play in japan (either i was too excited or i didn't trust myself to wake up at 4 am or whatever) on two straight nights

i think the horsefeathering agbayani game ended while i was in homeroom and was listening on the radio

From Ken Rosenthal's latest notes column in The Athletic:

Strasburg, 31, chose to become a free agent even after working a career 245 1/3 innings last season, including playoffs. Only once previously had he thrown more than 183 innings. No pitcher’s long-term health is ever assured. But Strasburg is more than nine years removed from his Tommy John surgery, and the odds of a pitcher requiring a second TJ are not particularly high, according to a study published by the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery in 2018.

The study, in which the lead author was Dr. Christopher Camp of the Mayo Clinic, included 1,429 Tommy John surgeries, from the very first in 1974 through the 2016 season. The “revision” rate for major leaguers was 9.4 percent. The average time between the first and second surgery was 47 months, or less than four years, according to a separate study in the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine in 2019.

There was a belief a few years back that ~7 years after TJ surgery your new UCL was pretty likely to go poof. Turns out if your elbow survives a few seasons after coming back you're basically in the clear.

Cool. I had no idea this was cooking in the background...

They planned a big announcement for today and yeah it's pretty big news. Really looking forward to reading this next year. I believe this will come out around the same time as Keith Law's next book as well.

"I'm more just upset that we gave away a huge piece of our team," Snell said. "He was the swag of our team. He lifted a lot of our position players up with just his presence and made other guys more swaggy."

Do the statheads on this site prefer fSWAG or bSWAG?
