In the latest installment of "Remember how good the Cubs were last year"...

The Astros are 37-16, only one game worse than the Cubs were through 53 games last year. However, the Astros RD is +79, which is second in the league (Dodgers are 1st) and they're outperforming their pythag by 3 games. The Cubs last year had a RD of +140 at this point and had a pythag of 41-12.

Wonder if the Reds front office is slightly pissed that they are actually contending this year (due solely to the ineptness of the other Central teams) because you know they are probably really wanting to trade Cozart right now.

Well, it was a VERY short reign:

There’s a surprising new best team in baseball, and it doesn’t reside in Chicago, New York or L.A. Instead, it’s the Houston Astros, who are projected to finish with the majors’ top record according to both FanGraphs.com and FiveThirtyEight’s own Elo ratings. Those are lofty expectations, but if the Astros can meet them, they’ll complete a historic turnaround that few teams in major league history can match.

Spoilered because some might find a mascot flicking off fans NSFW.

LOL. Can someone explain what is happening here? Like how could you rile up a mascot enough to get him to flip you the bird?

Wait a sec, I bet that Mets fan probably said something dirty about Mrs. Met...

Snaggleteeth Hamilton is on pace for 86 steals and only 12 CS, an 88% conversion rate. That type of high volume and high efficiency is extremely rare. Like Rickey and Vince Coleman stuff.

Tim Raines, Eric Davis, Willie Wilson, maybe Tony Womack and a couple more all had a season "close" to that (depending on what's the cutoff would be for volume and/or %).

Still extremely rare like you said though.

Dusty needs to keep his job with the Nationals past Harper's free agency, so please slow down the arm shredding.
