Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales

Baez confirmed he has lowered his hands in an effort to get to the ball quicker and cut down his strikeouts.

Baez has the best bat speed I've ever seen. Him being able to get to the ball quicker is almost unfair.

Given Baez swing, I'm not sure this will have any appreciable effect on cutting down his ks. Hopefully it will.

My understanding of the "universal agreement" is that Russell has better hands and instincts than Castro, but Castro has better range and arm. As his yearly error totals show, Castro is getting steadily better at the mental stuff while Russell's athleticism is only going to diminish as he fills out his frame. I don't think it's a situation that screams out for displacing the incumbent.

Russell should put on some weight, move to 3B and become the next David Wright.

pretty smart of baez to get all these selfies with major leaguers. years from now, he'll be able to use them to convince people he really did play for the cubs for a few months.

From reader in AZ: Baez HR'd off of Bueno; Addison Russell looked very good defensively at 3B, as did Bryant.
