If Olt can put 1/2 a season of good MLB ABs, he would be one helluva a trade chip at the deadline.

Based on his track record, I'll settle for a good two weeks until Bryant comes up.

Went to Friday's and today's games.

Some thoughts on the stadium:

The scoreboard operator was hilariously inept. On Thursday they listed Darvill as Dargo. Today at one point they had Montero listed as the LF and Andreoli listed as the EF...

He put up the answer to the trivia question before the question. The announced attendance was different from what was on the scoreboard.

They had the Padres firstbase-man listed as Unknown for a bit, but I don't really blame them for that.

I wish the scoreboard would show who's pitching, it only shows the lineup for the batting team.

It would also be nice to show defense changes (if able, I know it's ST and sometimes you can't keep up).

However:

That wouldn't be as big an issue if the PA announcer wasn't horrible. Way to quiet and not clear. Many times I had to wait for Gameday/look up who was pitching because we couldn't hear what was announced. It wasn't an issue with the sound system, as the kids who sang the stretch and the guy who announced the 50-50 were perfectly clear and loud.

The park itself was very nice. One odd thing was that they didn't have fountain sodas, only bottles. Beer prices ranged from $6.50 for a 12 oz domestic to $11 for a 25 oz. $9 20 oz drafts at some of the vendors.

Food seemed good. plenty of options.

It seemed that if you sat in the box seats you should be in the shade unless you were at the very end sections. Outfield lawn/club thing is in the sun.

Did anyone catch the Kasper interview on the Score this morning? I missed it but heard them talking about it on the transition from Biggs and Goff to Boers and Bernstein. They were saying Kasper said the Cubs are basically admitting Javy's problem is big, they are asking him to make major changes, and there's a decent chance he starts the year in AAA.

Basically Kasper said there was too much advice being given, kind of recapping what Maddon had said. Kasper still thinks Javy will start at 2B...it was more Spiegel that thought he'd start in the minors.

There was nothing new. It's the same stuff that's been talked about. I'm surprised the way he portrayed what Maddon said about the chances of Javy making the team since the talk had been going the other way with much of the media (no entitlement program etc). To me, what Maddon said the other day sounded more optimistic about Javy making the team than what the talk previously sounded like.

Javy basically said the other day (after the 3k game I think) that he was lost at the plate because he's working on implementing the adjustments to his swing in game. That's really not surprising.

I'll gladly take that as one of our random ST injuries.

Yeah, obviously you hope guys like Turner pan out, but better a guy competing for the 5th spot than one of our rotation locks

honestly there's probably like 4 guys in camp that i'd rather see it be... jaxon.....jonathan herrera...chris valaika...uhhhh

i'm exaggerating a tad but yeah

Welcome to the 60-Day DL Mister Turner, hope you enjoy your stay.

@GDubCub Jacob Turner had MRI that revealed flexor strain and bone bruise in elbow. No ligament damage. To be shut down. DL to open season.

You did. It was beautiful.

Soler and Baez completely left the yard to straight left and Bryant's was oppo gorgeousness on a seemingly shortened swing.

Holy crap - Travis wasn't the only Wood the Cub that had today after those three rockets. If you're weren't sporting after watching Soler-Baez-Bryant go back-to-back-to-back, you're not a fan.

I'd like to see the Cubs win a game just to get people to stop talking about it, but wow - big picture kind of day. All three were hugely impressive shots - Soler and Baez moonshots pulled to LF and Bryant a 400-footer opposite field on a high-outside fastball. But Baez' was the most impressive, because Soler had a fastball meatball and put a Glenallen Hill move on it - you get the sense it was as far as he could hit it, and that was very far. But Javy reached for a low-outside slider and hit it even further without (for him) swinging that hard. Javy's HR just should not have been humanly possible.

No I do not become physically aroused from watching people hit homeruns, I believe you need to see a doctor (therapist).

Good to see/hear Javy is still swinging at pitches out of the zone.

Maybe you need to see a doctor about your Erectile Dysfunction.

I would say low-outside corner. It was probably barely a strike.
