@danpompei

Give me a team full of Garzas any day, and I'll win my share of games.

Uhhhh. No you wouldn't.

Depends on many games you think constitutes Pompei's share.

The way Pompei is going on and on you'd think that Garza died.

You laugh but they still haven't found a new source of fiber, you guys.

Bears make it official

Chicago Bears ‏@ChicagoBears 18s19 seconds ago

#Bears have released veteran center Roberto Garza and signed free-agent center Will Montgomery to a one-year contract.

More I think about it, I have a feeling that if Amari Cooper is gone, the Bears would go with a Mariota/Waynes (CB)/Oline pick. I keep coming back to the thought that Gase is likely going with a strong run scheme and that a WR would be a luxury pick as opposed to a scheme pick. They obviously don't like Cutler so why go with a WR not named Amari Cooper before finding a QB of the future? Also aside from Fuller this team has no other youth in the secondary.

Jason Cole, however, says that the Bears have been heating up on former Oregon Ducks stud quarterback Marcus Mariota, and that if he is available when they pick at #7, they may be looking to pull the trigger.

Cole also trips up when he mentions a rumor about the Bears finding a trade partner with the Tennessee Titans, and didn't sound like someone who truly believed what he was saying. After all, if a source genuinely stated that a trade was being discussed, then Cole would be reporting that from the rooftops, adamant in his convictions.

Picking Mariota at 7 is a "no-duh"; or at minimum trading to the pick to Houston, Cleveland (2 first round picks), or Philly and loading up. I can't see him falling to 7. Someone will vault the Bears via trade if he gets past 3.

Fowler highlights - I didn't realize how string he is; watch him yank guys backwards while his body is going the other direction or is in neutral:

I saw the bleacherreport video link on Twitter, and thought the same...if the Bears were looking to trade up, there'd be a lot more pub than some little throwaway video like this.

I have heard nothing on a potential Cutler trade to Tennessee but the #Bears interest in QB Marcus Mariota is nothing new.

Within a month til the draft. This is about the time to NOT believe everything you hear from now until draft day. I don't see the Bears trading Cutler, drafting Mariota, or trading up in the draft. This is to get teams to trade up if Mariota's on the board still at 7.

I hope they've at least considered Mariota at 7 in the slim chance he drops. But don't see a trade up.
