why would everyone want the cubs? obviously the minor league system has been tops in terms of talent this season, but most of those guys are in tennessee, iowa or chicago by now. is it because the organization is really committing to investing money in the minor league system as a whole, and continuing to do so for the long term? is it because of the large fan base and some of those fans being passionate about the player development system? just curious why the cubs seem to be so appealing to minor league affiliates, and if this is a new trend.

Yes. Oh and the proximity for south bend.

I live near South Bend and I will certainly be going to more games. There are a [expletive] load of Cubs fans in the area and I'm sure attendance will increase.

1. The Cubs are becoming well known has being a class org top to bottom that is committed to and on their way to winning a lot of baseball games and possibly some championships which would drive up their national popularity.

2. The Cubs already have a huge fan base all over the country thanks to their history with WGN over the past decades, so they likely have fans near Myrtle Beach and throughout Tennesee and Oregon, not to mention obvously South Bend and Des Moines.

3. This FO is committed to and is proving they are successful at bringing up talent through their system which means a greater likelihood of those teams winning games as evidenced by an FSL championship and MWL championship in the last two seasons. I would think people enjoy watching winning baseball.

Those are the reasons I can see.

Yeah, I was born and (mostly) raised in South Bend. I'll go to a game when I go visit my mom. I would have had season tickets if they were a Cubs affiliate about 12-15 years ago, as I went to most games when the (then Cubs affiliate) Lansing Lugnuts came to town with the likes of Corey Patterson, Hee Seop Choi, Luis Montanez, etc. They didn't do all that well as a White Sox affiliate back in the day, but nobody likes the Sox.

Honestly everything about that article is so perfect. I want to get it framed. Maybe bronzed, if possible.

LOLOLOL yes! i regularly read the journal star and luciano is a hack of the highest order, constantly finding new and interesting ways to be wrong on a wide variety of issues. the fact that his commitment to incompetence now carries through to bizarre rivalries with the cubs that exist only in his head makes me truly happy.

@nbaliva: Feel bad for the good Cubs fans that enthusiastically follow MiLB system. Unless something changes, no radio in SB, no reports on road games

Looks like plenty is going to change.

@SuzanneWSBT @Silver_Hawks will make huge impvmts to technology including HD cams all over the field with the intention to broadcast all games. #wsbt

Wait so we might have MiLB.tv for all four full season teams next year? [expletive] I'm gonna have to invest.

You realize the MLB team is actually going to be good, right?

I think it's the large stain on his shirt that really just brings it home. Truly A+ effort on his part.

Looks like he could be Da Bum's dad.

I blame ESPN for fostering the Hot Takes™ industrial complex.
