Miles says the Cubs are 50/50 to stay in Kane County.

That's kinda shocking.

I read it as a pretty standard negotiating tactic to get the KC owner to commit as much as possible to upgrades.

I wonder what kind of attendance bump they've seen from the affiliation

Bruce wrote about it. They had a good turnout, but supposedly have also had even better in past years.

Also kinda surprising. They had a team affiliated with the closest major league team and it won 91 regular season games. Geez.

I have a feeling that affiliation is not nearly as meaningful as one may think at first glance. Relatively few fans of any team care about their minor league teams. Even fans that do care probably still don't care enough to go to games. I've been to hundreds of major league games in a dozen+ stadiums and a handful of spring training games. But I've never been to any minor league game. And I'm somebody who used to start down on the farm threads on espn.com a decade ago. I am sure there are benefits but the entire business model of minor league baseball has thrived across the country for decades but it is more about serving that particular local market a fun and cheap product.

I'd love it if the move to South Bend, but the facilities as Coveleski stadium aren't must to right home about. Then again I don't know what they are supposed to look like either.

That's quite a sentence.

That was HCCF-esque.

Yeah. I've been saying for 2 years that I was going to go to a KC game and I have yet to.

#Cubs today agreed with @IowaCubs on a two-year Player Development Contract extension through 2018 season (off agreement through 2016).

I can't see the Cubs ever leaving Iowa. They are about as stable of an partnership as there is out there.

I sure as hell hope they never do.

Myrtle Beach is official, per the usual beat writers on Twitter.
