Anyone else think of

?

That would be fine with me, the Silver Hawks' logo is an abomination.

At the very least, they won't be the Silver Hawks.

Along with the new affiliate, according to Berlin, will come a new team name (Silver Hawks will no longer exist) and new team colors. However, those won’t be announced until a later date.

Although, its probably best to be leaving the KC mascot behind

I'm pretty surprised they're moving. I thought any nominal difference in facility upgrades would be cancelled out by Kane County's proximity to Chicago.

Sharma pointed out on Twitter that from Wrigley it's about a 45 minute difference in drive time, so relatively marginal on that end too.

It seems like the facility upgrades are more than nominal while the proximity issue (as much as it is an issue at all) is nominal.

~ 100 miles from Wrigley, twice as far as KC? Its still about 70 miles closer than Peoria was and more than close enough if anyone from the FO or rehabbing major leaguer needs to go there.

Its more of a shared major league market than KC was, but probably not by too much.

Yeah, definitely. My interpretation of the situation was wrong.

But what actual difference does that extra distance mean?

There's also the SouthShore train line that goes from downtown Chicago to the South Bend airport. Last I knew it was very affordable too. I used to go from SB to Chicago every other Friday when the Cubs were home to catch a game.

The ballpark in SB was terrible last I knew though. The frontier league park near me is much better (and about 25 years newer).

It's like 12 bucks, but it's a 2 and a half hour ride.

I'm fairly excited about this as a South Bend resident. They did some upgrades on the park a couple of years ago but it's still not that great. They use field turf instead of grass which annoys me but oh well, it'd be cool to see prospects I care about as opposed to Arizona prospects.

Bruce said the field turf was getting replaced.

I don't remember it being that long (of course this was 10+ years ago). Does that include the hour time difference?

@nbaliva: Feel bad for the good Cubs fans that enthusiastically follow MiLB system. Unless something changes, no radio in SB, no reports on road games

@nbaliva: Not that you kids would understand what any of it means anyway.

Does South Bend still use the pony express to deliver mail, too? Do they use a 14.4 modem to connect to Prodigy to post box scores?

I don't think I understand why this is "sad" news for people who don't listen to radio broadcasts too get their information.
