Bruce Levine said a bunch of scouts were watching Bonifacio and he's gone as soon as he's played a week or so to prove he's healthy.

Oh my, why might we be sending all our 2b away?

It's a good thing we're sending away Emilio Bonifacio, because we'd have no way to justify playing Baez over him

of course, the point isn't that they need to move bonifacio to make room first. it's more...who the hell is going to play 2B when they're talking about wanting alcantara in CF more?

@GDubCub: Smarj hopes A's get Barney: "You stick Barney in the right situation on a winning team, and he's going to make that team a whole lot better"

@GDubCub: W/ Cubs Samardzija requested Barney start when he pitched: "That was no accident. Absolutely not. … He saved my butt plenty of times."

Listen to the man, Billy. Darwin Barney is of immeasurable value. Do whatever it takes to get him.

Maybe he should realize that requesting Barney start when he pitch was part of the reason he got such minimal run support.

That was my first reaction as well.

Probably what's been going on in the Darwin Barney front the last week or so:

Duquette:I'll offer you

Theo: How about Dylan Bundy?

Duquette: Ha, ha. You're a funny guy, Teddy.

Theo: So they say. In all seriousness, how about you up it to

Duquette: Sorry, buddy. Not willing to go that high. But (some variation of Eric Leal) is still on the table if you're interested.

Theo: And I am. Tell you what, how about we keep that over here in the maybe pile, and we talk later this week.

Duquette: You bet.

CLICK.

Theo sits back in his chair, feet up on the desk, and twiddles his thumbs for a moment. He takes a deep breath, sits up, leans in and grabs the phone. He sits back in his chair as he begins to dial.

Theo: Hello? Hey, Ned? It's Theo. Theo Epstein.

Ned: Theo! How's it going?

Theo: Doing well, doing well. So listen, I'm just getting back to you on that offer you made on Barney last week. Now I'm not saying no, and you know I want to help you out, but I just got off the horn with Baltimore, and I thought I should tell you that Dylan Bundy did enter the conversation.

Ned: Bundy huh? Well there's no way I can match them there.

Theo: But that doesn't mean you can't try, and that Pederson kid would be a start.

Colletti: You're mad.

Theo: Only if I were to send Darwin to the O's without giving you a chance to match their best offer.

Colletti: At that price, they're welcome to him.

Theo: It's like I said, you don't have to decide right away. Tell you what, I have a call on the other line. I'll give you a couple to think on it, and we'll talk more during the week.

I feel confident that money goes towards overage on next years IFA spree.
