I think his future is a fascinating thing to follow. I remember when I was the only one talking him up (and warily at that) a few years back ... and yet, there's a part of me that wonders he's a bit over-hyped now. That said, he's a very good talent, someone I still think can play short for a lot of big league systems (and a part of me still wonders if a team that lacks a future at shortstop might want to consider him ... ). For us, it's 2nd or CF, and I think one of the more interesting debates will be whether or not a producing Albert Almora (assuming he does perform and produce on the way up) is better than Arismendy Alcantara in CF if Alcantara learned CF well enough to be solid defensively there. I mean, as hyped up as Almora was by some as a smooth CF, Alcantara's tools are arguably similar, if not better in some areas.

The fact that he's displaying them in the majors right now puts him in the better column in all categories for me. He's obviously not as good as he's looked the last few games, but he clearly knows what he's doing at the plate.

He appears to be the one main prospect that may have the ability to post good ob% numbers and be a lead off hitter. Perhaps not ideal but he has posted .350+ ob% the last 2 seasons, and with the potential bats behind him in the future that could be more than good enough. It's already better than what we have now.

Also if he can become a solid CF he could fill another hole among our future stars.

It's also nice to see another of our young guys up and playing.

Have you heard of Addison Russell?

Russell comes off as a 2-hole guy to me. Decent average, decent OBP and 20 HR power. Alcantara seems to have less power but similar averages making him more of lead-off guy in my eyes. Who the eff knows really though. Off of what we know now iti would go Alcantara-Russell-Rizzo-Bryant-Castro-Baez. Not sure on the last part. Baez is so hit or miss I'd like to through a good average guy in front. Could also swap Russell and Castro since Castro is already a decent hitter.

And I'll stop rambling now.

Yeah, was kind of thinking of "our" guys(before the deal), which now include Russell, but just kind of completely forgot about him.

Heck McKinney falls into that category also..

Holy [expletive] this guy is going to be a superstar, isn't he?

I certainly understand the Reyes-lite comps. And outside of stolen bases, I think he looks like an exact replica of him.
