As a secondary idea to all these LeBron and Melo fantasies, how come Trevor Ariza is never brought up as a possible acquisition? The guy has a good reputation defensively and is a capable scorer. He had a great year last year. He's actually pretty similar to Luol Deng (just a notch below Deng though).

I'm not great with the cap and trade restrictions of the NBA, but if the Bulls were able to land Love and bring Ariza on, I would be thrilled with the potential of such a team. Hell, if they can't land Love and are only able to bring Mirotic over, that would probably work too. It would be disappointing of course, but I think they would still be the best Bulls team since Jordan.

Why would Mirotic want to come over if Love is here? He will never start on the Bulls.

Perfect world-I'd rather beat Lebron for a title. Near perfect world-Winning with Lebron.

That said, I think we have zero chance of getting him. I'm just hoping he heads to the Western Conference somehow.

lebron is going to take less and melo is going to the heat.

You need more than just LeBron taking less to make that work.

if we hear that bosh and wade are opting out, that's bad news.

Agree. However, I think it would be to make a run at Lowry rather than Melo. I don't think everyone takes enough of a paycut to fit all 4 in. I can see them all taking smaller pay cuts to free up $10-$12M for Lowry. Or maybe Gortat.

But I never though the Big 3 would be formed, so who knows. Either way I'm praying Bosh and/or Wade don't opt out.

I'm pretty sure Bosh is going to opt out. Wade's the question mark. Does he give up less to accommodate or does he take the money knowing that he's never going to see a payday like this again?

i'm fairly certain that there would be some issues with the players' union if this happened.

If what happened? They took less money like they did last time?

opting out to take less money than the less money they took last time.

Not any more respectful adding Melo than it would be with LeBron. You can have respect or go home in May every year.

Yes it is. Melo has clear defensive deficiencies, never been close to a ring, and would be coming to a team that has had tons of success due to defensive prowess. LBJ is undisputed the best in the game. It's like Jordan vs. Iverson.

But getting Melo or LeBron is not adding pieces. This isn't getting Grant or Rodman. You are adding superstars.

But that's what the league is. You add superstars. And the Bulls, at least, have a team that is very close. It's not like the Knicks who tried to buy a ring with Melo and Amare 4 years ago. It's not even like the Heat, who had 2 straight 1st round exits (after a league worst 2008 season) and weren't really all that close 4 years ago before adding 2 superstars.

That's why I don't care about building a team the "right way." The Bulls have drafted well and Thibs has developed players and made castoffs good money. But I'm tired of the old try hard Bulls. Get THE piece already.

Jordan was/is a bigger a-hole than LeBron and it's fun to root against him and all but I really see no reason to not want him on the Bulls.

Just contract the rest of the league. Bulls eternal champions. We'll have parades every year and we don't even need a roster!

The Cubs can add Trout, Stanton, Felix, etc. Don't care.

Bears can load up on mercenary F.A. Fine.

The bulls drafted Rose, Noah, Taj, Butler. They developed under Thibs. They earned the best record in the league twice, and were two baskets away from being up 3-2 on

Miami with Keith Bogans at the 2.

I've never seen a sports team with the resolve that this one has. And the roadblock has always been Lebron. There has been a legit story arc here, something you don't often get on a team-level in sports. It's not crazy to want to see that arc end in vanquishing Miami and winning a title.

For the record Lebron is the only player I feel this way about, and I don't hate him by any means.

And yes, Edmonds was unpalatable, but he was a small cog in the wheel. A wheel full of players from trades and free agency. He didn't become the face of the franchise.

Is there a way that I can put money on the Bulls biggest move being bringing over Mirotic, because I would put my life savings on that.

Yeah, even knowing Reinsdorf's cheapness, that seems very unlikely.

I'm not completely up on what the FA/trade market is, so I guess what I really meant by my statement was, I would put my money against the Bulls getting anyone from the Lebron/Melo/Love/ tier.

I think they'll end up with Love. The Bulls are on his short list and it's a really great fit. The Bulls have tons of tradeable assets to make something happen, even if it requires getting a 3rd team involved to make it happen.

I wouldn't assume Mirotic comes over at all

Ok, no bigger move than signing Josh McRoberts

Nah, gotta leave someone on the scrap heap for the Celtics
