If the Bulls could get the #1 pick straight up for Joakim Noah, they should be looking around for the Candid Camera. A 29 year old center with a decently long injury history and a $10MM contract for a stud young player making 1/3 of that for the next 4 years. Pick Embiid to replace Noah and then have the cap space for Carmelo. Rose/Butler/Carmelo/Taj/Embiid is a fantastic starting lineup. And it will never happen unless David Kahn is running the Cavs all of a sudden.

I was really hoping the Cavs would try to leverage the fact that they have 3 first rounders next year to play with. 2 of those, Waiters, and Thompson would have to be right there for as much as anyone would want to give for Love, then with him in the fold you can put the press on LeBron to be part of a new big 3 plus Embiid/Wiggins. After next year you'd have to pretty much gut the current roster of salary to make sure you can keep Love and Irving, but with the #1 and #33 plus a first rounder in 2015 they'd be in better shape to avoid the stars and scrubs trap the Heat fell into(plus their big 3 would be a bit younger). Such is fantasy I guess. Giving up the #1 for Noah seems like a particularly bad win-now move since they have Varejao already on the roster, but depending on the circumstances I could see it making sense for Love or Aldridge.

Memphis's draft pick only comes to Cleveland next year if it's between 6-14. It could easily not be Cleveland's until 2017. Miami's pick isn't that valuable unless they break the team up this year, and Cleveland's own pick would get a lot worse if they acquired Love (plus Chicago can swap picks with Cleveland next year if Cleveland gets out of the lottery). Waiters and Thompson are assets with quite a bit of baggage. I don't think that package would interest Minnesota. There's no great asset there for them to hang their hat on.

I could see a Cleveland deal with Love, but only involving the #1.

Noah was named to the All-NBA 1st team. 2nd Bull to receive the honor since MJ. I don't remember the first one, some guy named after a flower. Whatever happened to him?

I agree the Cavs trading the no. 1 for Noah doesn't make sense. That said, its the only way I'd consider parting with him. He's a unique asset in today's NBA.

I'm leaning towards this as a great scenario for the Bulls: trade the two picks to move up to 12 (Orlando) and select Gary Harris. Trade or amnesty Boozer and the 3 non-guaranteed's, acquire Carmelo. That would be a very potent team.

I'm not a big fan of Kap and Haugh (as many of you already know), but this is hilarious. In what universe is Jay Williams not a bust?

Ugh, I hate to have to side with Kaplan.

Yeah... saw it pop up on Twitter and had to listen. Now I need to take a shower.

Noah and Melo would be a nice combo for the Bulls.

Bulls offered Gibson, Butler and Boozer for Love?

http://dimemag.com/2014/06/report-bulls-made-offer-kevin-love/

There's a lot of reports of this today based off an ESPN report that Bulls had a good offer in on Love, but those names were just "possible inclusions".

http://espn.go.com/boston/story/_/id/11033627/kevin-love-landing-boston-celtics-far-slam-dunk

The Timberwolves privately maintain they already have fielded better offers from other teams, among them the Chicago Bulls, who can offer draft picks and some combination of Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson along with Carlos Boozer, whose bloated $16.8 million contract expires next summer and represents the kind of cap space rebuilding teams crave.

I don't believe teams like the TWolves crave cap space because they won't get any worthwhile players to use it on. Butler, Gibson, and other assets (picks, Mirotic) is probably the best offer they'll get. If Boozer is included with Taj, I bet we'd be taking back a bad contract.

Yeah, that makes more sense. I can't see them including Gibson and Butler, plus Booz and then get only Love back. That's a ton of assets from a overall value perspective.

Per Chad Ford:

The Bulls have been trying to move up in the draft to get an elite shooter. Their target has been Denver with an offer of the 16th and 19th pick for 11. If they get there, Gary Harris or Nik Stauskas will be the guy with them likely leaning toward Stauskas.

God please let this happen

Harris please. Better wingspan and better defender. And that approach is no surprise. Why get two rotational players when you can get a starter? See above for the scenario I am hoping for.

EDIT: I think I prefer Young and LaVine to Stauskas. Its not that I don't think Stauskas will be a contributor, its just that his ceiling is Kyle Korver.

Also, if Wilcox somehow lasts into the 2nd Rnd I'd love to see us trade up to get him.

I'm biased so I welcome disagreements but I definitely think Stauskas ceiling is higher than Kyle Korver

Plus getting Harris a real coach after 2 years of Tom Crean should pay dividends

?

I know I'm missing a joke here

IU fans were sure that Harris was a lock for them and then he picked MSU. SSR's been using that joke for years now. I'm disappointed in both of you.
