It was due to being hit by a comebacker, nothing structural. He's just pitched the other day and the numbers looked fine.

If we are talking Dodgers, I want Pederson. He's currently blocked right now.

It seems like they want Price though.

Samardzija+18-20M a year for Pederson+Lee

or

Price+25-27M a year for Pederson+Urias+Seager

Is Price really worth another 7M or so annually plus a significantly larger prospect package when you're already packing two legitimate aces? Seems like a poor use of resources.

Lmao Bowden

The Blue Jays should strike early and try to land Samardzija, and without dealing top pitching prospects Aaron Sanchez and Marcus Stroman. Perhaps an offer of left-handed pitcher Daniel Norris, right-handed pitcher Roberto Osuna and third baseman Mitch Nay could get it done.

Jim, please explain why the Cubs would take that right now.....

If you add one of Stroman or Sanchez to that though, I'd seriously consider it. But I'd rather have Tirado than Osuna(TJS).

I don't think the Dodgers care all that much about resources. I DO think they'd prefer the better pitcher and Price's track record says its him.

Personally, I think Pedersen and Urias would nab Price and I also think we'll not see much of a difference in overall packages received for those two guys once its over.

Shark has less of a track record, but has less mileage and is cheaper this year and next by a sizable margin. Just don't think the Dodgers will care about that.

The Dodgers don't care about money. They do care about their prospects and have been somewhat tight with them if memory serves.

He must think Theo's an idiot.

I have a feeling we're all gonna be real disappointed with what we get back

Theo either needs to get a solid package in return, or just pay the man. There can't be any of this "disappointed with what we got back" stuff.

He doesn't want to re-sign with us.

Yeah, I don't think either of those things happen. Things are shaping up really nicely to get a good return for him. And if they did somehow end up with only underwhelming offers, I don't think they'd trade him just to trade him and would re-visit an extension.

If he starts to suck terribly, of course, that changes things on both those fronts.

Here's the field of possible trade partners …

8. Braves: [...] remarkably, they somehow have six starters going very well now. As long as they have an extra starter, they wouldn't seem to be a logical player.

ok, then!

I clicked it because I assume you only snipped a part of their full blurb on the Braves, but no, that was it.

11. the san diego chargers: not a baseball team, so probably not interested.

Au contraire, he's just the guy they need to round out their WR core. Also, they have the prospects to get him.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if after today Samardzija wouldn't stay here even if Theo offered up 20M a year. He has got to want out of this train wreck so badly.

It's obvious anytime he gives an interview. I kept expecting him to be the one to go ballistic in the clubhouse but that would indicate that he still had hopes of turning things around with this team.

He'll probably just refuse to sign an extension with anyone in a trade and then sign with the White Sox as a way to get his "revenge" on the Cubs for sucking so much.

Right now there is now way we could come away disappointed in what we would get in a deal. We have all the leverage. We still have control, don't have to trade him and can still play the "we are trying to re-sign" him card. I just hope he continues to be great, and sooner or later a contender will come looking for a big arm to put him over the top.

If you look at what they have gotten for arms like Maholm, Dempster, Garza and Feldman. I don't see how they won't find a very nice haul from a willing participant..

I could see why writers and fans may doubt them signing big name players but with what they have pulled off for 2nd tier or lower starting pitchers, I don't know how you can doubt they'll get great value for Samardzija

He'd do well to keep all his options open, including re-signing with the Cubs. How he feels right now is one thing, but let's see what happens when it comes down to it. I'm not saying you're wrong, or that he's going to re-sign with the Cubs, but it's early yet.
