I wasn't confused. It was an oddly phrased statement that I was able to interpret in spite of that.

so you knew what it meant, asked what it meant anyway, and then got pissy when somebody pointed out you should have been able to tell what it meant?

So you wouldn't have made a big [expletive] deal about it if David had just said, "what an odd phrasing"?

Eh, I was expecting worse by reading the comments beforehand. So he didn't engage about Lane Kiffin? And he seems genuinely unconcerned about stardom/fame? I'll take the boring interviews.

It's not terrible. I was expecting a LOT worse. He's a country kid from South Carolina who was never really the biggest story on his team until the past few weeks. Rather have him act like this than TO. Deadspin reaching a bit on this one.

"Reaching?" It's a blurb and a video link.

Alluding to the fact that it's a terrible interview is a bit of a reach. Deadspin is excellent, but this was neither funny or entertaining.

Way OT, but when I thought of bad interviews and football players, my mind immediately jumped to that player against the Bears in the preseason with the cringe-worthy stuttering post-game interview.

Anyways I was extremely happy to find out his name is Ellis Lankster and he has ended up having a pretty good career playing for the Jets and has been able to use that to really reach out and make a difference with kids with stuttering problems. I fully expected to just find a guy who's lasting legacy was one interview in a preseason NFL. Major props to Ellis.

Why do you do this? Do you get actual joy out of nitpicking every word everyone says? Jesus.

Yeah, didn't you get that memo?

Bears note on ESPN power rankings...

Jay Cutler was 6-of-13 for 95 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions when targeting Brandon Marshall and 16-of-18 for 170 yards and two touchdowns targeting all other players.

See, Cutler sucks. He only throws to Marshall!

That jumpball to Alshon should have its own catagory.

We've reached the point of the season where "jumpball to Alshon" has to be an actually designed play whenever the Bears get inside the opponents 35.

Too narrow of a use IMO. If Jay can get it to the end zone, let it rip.

Not really. If it's incomplete at the 35, at least you're in FG range. If you're not in FG range, it's just a wasted down if not completed (unless it's 3rd and really long like it was Sunday). Plus, to throw it any further than 40-45 yards in the air, you really need good pass protection for a decent amount of time.

Right. I have to jump in and say that I took it as David reacting to a poorly written sentence, not really asking for someone to clarify what it meant.

From the strange but true file:

The Bears are 0-5 when Alshon Jeffery has 100 yards receiving, 8-1 when he is held under 100 yards.

Is it really that crazy?

Behind = throw more
