Brett says Jed is going to be on the Score right now.

Jed says they have not had hands tied on budget. Investment in minors and front office staff took $$$. Does have $$$ for majors roster now. Castro been living with Cubs trainer for past 2 months. Didn't come to spring training in shape. Physical development to improve power #'s. Dodged question of 'lifestyle/attitude change." Would not commit to Shark as 1-2 or even 3. Rizzo needs improvement as 2 strike hitter. Tanaka negotiations still going on.

I didn't listen to the Hoyer interview, but at the season ticket forum, Theo mentioned it was Castro that came to them and asked for Buss to come live with him(next door I believe), so it wasn't like this was forced upon him.

And if Hoyer said they didn't have their hands tied on the budget, he's either lying, or they didn't want to win the last 2 seasons. But considering he said they have money for the majors roster now, then yes Jed, your hands were tied on the budget.

According to Jesse Sanchez, each team had around an hour with Tanaka.

Word is LA only needed 5 minutes and when they were done Tanaka's people had to chase done Colletti's agent at the lobby bar to collect their fee.

Both Chicago teams are starting to be viewed at least by their competitors as serious players for star Japanese pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, though the deep-pocketed Dodgers and Yankees, as well as others, remain seriously interested and cannot be counted out in what promises to be a spirited derby for the international star.

The Cubs and White Sox were two of the five known teams reported here back on Jan. 9 to have had meetings scheduled with Tanaka at a secret location in the Los Angeles area, so it shouldn't come as a surprise they are seriously involved. The Yankees, Dodgers and Diamondbacks were the other teams believed to have had meetings planned at that time, though only the White Sox publicly confirmed their meeting did take place.

The Cubs have long been known to be a player in the Tanaka sweepstakes, and he makes perfect sense for the team that desperately needs pitching to go with its stash of very good positional prospects, and also favors young players due to their timetable and philosophy. Ken Rosenthal of Foxsports.com reported Thursday on the Cubs and the widely held belief they are ramping up their efforts in this regard.

Two competing executives went so far as to suggest the Cubs seem confident and one said he'd heard of a belief Tanaka was “theirs to lose,” though Cubs people aren't saying anything of the sort. Cubs president Theo Epstein declined to address the rumors when contacted by CBSSports.com, chalking them up to Twitter speculation by folks not in the know.

LeBron worked out great for me as a lifelong Heat fan.

So, you're the one? Seriously though, the Heat are 25 years old as a franchise. You can't honestly be a "lifelong" fan.

Cubs offer to Tanaka not only biggest, but biggest by far. One source: 'I hope they realize they're not signing David Price...'

Don't worry about it, it's a bit.

I can't even bring myself to copy and paste what ABTY just posted on PSD. I passed out from too much boner.

I'd give Tanaka more than Price.

These last two days are what I pictured every day being like when we hired Theo Epstein.

I was actually more excited for Bradley. *ducks*

I actually do think Tanaka is pretty close to David Price, but in the "this is what David Price has actually done" sense and not the " what most people think of when they think about what David Price's production is" sense.

Or how about the what is David Price going to do over the next few years...which I think leans even more Tanaka's way.

I realized that about myself and then didn't want to post it. :(

I was pretty excited about both, but Bradley was more recent right?

Both those guys were over 30 though, this is a whole new ballgame.
