Is it even worth trading Gregg? I can't believe he'd net anyone that would even end up in the Cubs top 30.

Hopefully we can get another Leal for him. That would be completely worthwhile.

Veras is quite a bit better and has a reasonable team option for next season.

I don't think I'd trade Olt/Edwards/PTBNL for Garcia AND Iglesias. Much less the actual White Sox return on Peavy, with an extra year of control.

The Red Sox get Jake Peavy from the White Sox and reliever Brayan Villarreal from the Detroit Tigers.

 

The Tigers get SS Jose Iglesias, in preparation of the pending Biogenesis suspension of their current SS Jhonny Peralta.

 

The White Sox get OFer Avisail Garcia from the Tigers and three Red Sox minor leaguers. Infielder Cleulius Rondon and pitchers Francelis Montas and Jeffery Wendelken.

I believe that the primary purpose for shopping Kennedy was to free up salary space for Peavy, and with Peavy off the table, I'm guessing that Kennedy is as well.

 

But damn, if healthy Peavy, Lester, Bucholtz, Lackey, Dempster. Damn.

Parks says he prefers the return for Peavy, saying Avisail Garcia has a chance to be a stud. What do people like about him? His hit tool? There doesn't seem to be anything really exciting about his power or his patience.

Agreed. There are several people with irrational love for Garcia. The guy OPSd .810 in AA as a 21 year old. Not awful, but not great either. Never hit more than 14HR in a season and his awful K/BB numbers have been mentioned.
