That better be a lot of pool space. I wasn't expecting much but these two guys......ugh

yep

Here's hoping for some Derek Johnson magic with Arrietta at least.

Nothing wrong with this deal. Two young arms for a guy who was leaving after 13.

Neither of those guys are young or good.

ETA: Now how could we possibly pry away Britton toonster?

Eh. I wonder how much the slot money is. I'm ok with taking Arrieta and seeing if we can't fix something or try him out of the pen. That said, I would've preferred a prospect as opposed to Strop but what's done is done. Not disappointed but not excited either.

MLBTR says we got their third and fourth slots.

This really looks kind of awful on a superficial glance.

You don't trade Feldman for lottery tickets

i'm cool with this, but i didn't value Feldman like some of you seem to

I didn't value him that high but thought they could get a prospect, and not a couple of crappy late 20's bullpen arms.

I'm not angry about it(especially if this is the last resort to get IFA money), but those two would be easier to handle as a return if it were a lot later in the month.

As it stands though, I am glad they got immediate contributors. Guess we have to hope they can fix something to bring down the walks for both of them.

Jesse Sanchez tweeted it was $388,100 in slots, which is equivalent to the Orioles third and fourth slots. They still might not have enough for their anticipated remaining IFA signings.

Disappointing trade.

we had better really like these stropp and arietta dorks. if getting the bonus pool money was an actual major part of this deal, we are surprisingly dumb.

Not used to a Cubs trade being reported and seemingly going through immediately.

A half a season of Scott Feldman was never going to bring back anything great. I am sure the FO took the best offer available to them. No team is going to give up anything special for 80 innings of Feldman.

If this was the last resort to get pool money, then we *completely* misread the market on IFA money and shouldn't have promised so much.

This is pretty much where I am.
