I think I can find an article that tags each one of these guys as the "frontrunner."

Saw a couple yesterday that said Renteria is the frontrunner.

All bunk - the process of first interviews isn't even completed yet.

It looks like the FO is going to interview anyone who speaks Spanish and will work cheap.

Oh.

Oh.

I'd prefer someone who speaks Sansgrit.

Lol, Abbatacola is pretty whiny, but I can only imagine what he has to deal with.

I swear it seems we've got more meatballs than anyone else. I'm guessing New York tops us, but I kind of doubt anyone else does.

Have you heard of the New England area?

Chicagoland is large, which means the actual number will be higher than most. But this stuff is universal.

Kind of want the Cubs to hire Martinez, and then have a full out brawl between the Cubs and Phils at Wrigley, where Martinez and Sandberg go at each other.

people here are super meatbally, too; Quentin Berry got a huge ovation in intros for some bizarre reason

also a guy behind me at the Tigers game Tuesday was squawking about sending Hunter and Jackson on a double steal with Miggy hitting

I think the New England area comes off as spoiled and miserable at the same time, tough to do, that may be a good call.

Let the 2nd round of interviews begin.

The first round of interviews for their vacant manager's job apparently is over for the Cubs, who spoke Thursday with Rays bench coach Dave Martinez.

The next step could be the most intriguing as team officials decide whether to narrow their focus to one candidate — perhaps Rick Renteria — or put their final candidates through a series of game simulations that President Theo Epstein employed in the process that resulted in the hiring of Terry Francona with the Red Sox.

The media keeps talking Renteria and Martinez. Is Acta out of it?

ABTY hinted that that might be the case today, FWIW.

Man, I didn't want Ryno as manager and I'd be ok with Martinez, but no way in hell would I ever want to see that.

Someone was reading the Sun-Times on the train this morning. The back cover?

"WHY NOT OZZIE?"

To be fair, that could be a really long rationally constructed column that touches on the varying reasons why not.

@MLBBruceLevine Cubs will suggest that there future manager consider Alex Cora as a coach . Cora comes with big BB IQ and verbal skills.

I don't think I've seen this posted yet. Talks about a big motivation for the Cubs manager search being able to communicate with Latin American players.

Not sure I totally buy the motivation, but based on the candidates we're hearing, wouldn't be totally shocking. If it is true it screams Starlin Castro. That being said it's Jesse Rodgers and I know he isn't held in the highest esteem as far as info goes.
