ETA: My bigger annoyance in contrasting the 2 is the White Sox actually making an attempt to improve the team, rather than fiddling for 4 years waiting on prospects. There's been a sucking void of creativity here coming from some of the smarter minds in baseball

They traded their closer for a 3B prospect, signed Abreu, and traded a SP w/ 4 years of team control for an OF w/ 5 years of team control. My biggest complaint with Theo and Jed is that they haven't done more in the trading market, but is there really a chasm here?

For this past offseason? Certainly. We sat around waiting on a guy we figured we weren't going to sign and then shrugged our shoulders and said oh well.

If given the chance to swap every player in our organization for every player in theirs, would anyone do it? I know I wouldn't.

The White Sox had the farm system in place pre-Hahn that everyone tries to pretend we did pre-Theo/Jed. With the same number of OMG Albatross contracts to boot.

Won't argue that. It's a valid point. But I think we're way ahead of them too, as we should be.

Only if we can swap Ricketts for Reinsdorf.

I was gonna say only if we get Hahn and they get stuck with Epstein/Hoyer.

Wish the cubs had the same financial deal they do on their stadium - that's about the only thing I'd switch

Oh geez. If the situation were reversed you'd pine so hard after Epstein and Hoyer being just across town.

The Sox made deals but to me it was window dressing for the fans. Right now things are ok, they are hovering around .500 but it simply can't last.

They have 3 guys hitting .300, Ramirez, Flowers and Viciedo- they barely have .300 career ob%

Abreau and Dunn may keep ops numbers that are good to very good, beyond that Ramirez is at .826. and Viciedo is at .846.Ramirez has been sub .700 the last 2 seasons, and Viciedo is a career .740 guy.

When they revert to norm, they will have a bunch of guys in the .600's with Dunn, and Abreau.

When their offense stalls, then their pitching problems will really be magnified.

exactly. For all the rebuild talk they are getting very good numbers from players who were already there. I am not arguing with their off-season moves, but it is not like those moves are the main reason the Sox are around .500

The Cubs are getting very good numbers from players who were already here too. The problem is the cubs have added negative WAR in position players thus far(and that's including 0.9 from Bonifacio), and the White Sox have added 2.1, and that's strtictly from players in their prime.

Tinyface is crushing. I looked up his OBP to see where it is amongst the leaders, and he's up there - but what got my attention is Tulo's OBP. 510 through 113AB's. That is INSANE

You know Rizzo has been/will be excellent that even that raging homer dbag Hawk Harrelson is gushing about him as he was during Rizzo's AB in the 9th yesterday. I almost fell out of my chair that he was fellating a Cubs player so much when the Sox were losing by 8 runs.

Well, if Hawk loves him then you know he's a terrible person. They probably hang out together.

Basically that he's going to be excellent and that he's young and will develop even more power. Said the same thing a few different ways. Also said Cubs front office thinks he will win a GG sooner rather than later.

The Sox radio guys were ripping Rizzo for pimping his double that the wind kept in. It was very whiny/annoying, although i'm not sure why I was listening to them in the first place.

yeah...as annoying as hawk can be, i honestly think their radio team is more painful to listen to than their tv. hawk is at least fun bad.

...but it doesn't help when he puts up an 0-6 spot with 3 K's, that's for sure.

all players do that, every great hitter has those days.
