You know, I should really let it go, but it is still great beating Iowa all these years since Bruce Pearl.

It's not for quite the same reasons, but yeah, taking a game from Iowa always feels good. Especially in their building during a down year for us and an up year for them. Illinois v. Iowa are always games I circle on my calendar.

On a more objective note, Iowa was a team that was being counted on to represent the B1G well in the tournament this year, and I have no idea what to make of them at this point, and things are not trending well for them. Unless they pick things up next week, I'll probably be picking them to go out in the first weekend.

What the hell, Illinois. 8-10 without the home loss to Purdue might have been enough. Now they'll likely have to beat Indiana, Michigan, and OSU/Iowa to have a decent shot at a bid.

If projected favorites all win today for the B1G (Wisconsin over Nebraska, OSU over MSU, Minnesota over PSU, Purdue over NW), the conference tourney will be

1 Michigan vs. 8 Indiana/9 Illinois winner

4 Ohio State vs. 5 Nebraska/12 Northwestern winner

2 Wisconsin vs. 7 Minnesota/10 Penn State winner

3 Michigan State vs. 6 Iowa/11 Purdue winner

Man I'd much rather have the potential draw of Minnesota/Penn State than Indiana/Illinois

Lol, Wiggins doesn't win PoTY in Big 12. Alright, whatever. Ejim had a very good year, too. But he also doesn't make all-defensive team in the Big 12? Give me a break.

So it is likely going to be Indiana and Illinois on Thursday, right?

All depends on the outcome of the PSU-Minnesota game.

EDIT: According to KP FanMatch, there's a 70% chance that it'll be Indiana and Illinois on Thursday.

I was surprised Ejim won it as well. I thought Kane was more deserving on his own team. I don't think Kane had a bad game all conference season. I love Ejim but he was very inconsistent the last 5 games or so.

I don't understand how they do the all defensive teams. If you watched Big XII games, which I'm assuming the coaches do, it was obvious Wiggins should of been on that team. I guess he just didn't have the defensive "stats" to get on it. Which is sad.

Minnesota is blowing out PSU so yeah.

Nebrasketball! I think they are in unless Purdue somehow upsets Ohio State and then beats Nebraska in the BTT. If they lose to Ohio State they start in Dayton, if they beat them they will start in the second round.

BTT matchups are settled then.

Thursday:

8 Indiana vs 9 Illinois

5 Ohio State vs 12 Purdue

7 Minnesota vs 10 Penn State

6 Iowa vs 11 Northwestern

Friday:

1 Michigan vs 8/9 winner

4 Nebraska vs 5/12 winner

2 Wisconsin vs 7/10 winner

3 Michigan State vs 6/11 winner

I'm no huge fan of ejim, but i don't think it's crazy/wrong for the coaches to reward a four year guy who wasn't a huge prospect and was kind of a lunch pail guy over a one and done guy. though ejim has kinda sucked lately and Kane was probably better overall.

annoyed that smart got first team though. that's [expletive].

Rumors floating that Ronnie Johnson and AJ Hammons will be gone. If you figure in the Jay Simpson medical issue and the four graduating seniors.... yikes, only 3 returning scholarship players and 5 incoming scholarship Freshmen.

Have to figure Painter is on the hot seat.

That's the rumor. He's a fringe first rounder at this point at best. Hopefully he comes back.

Since obviously no one was watching or cares, DePaul beat Georgetown, ending any chance at an at large for the Hoyas. DePaul will now try and prove that the SI cover jinx is real vs. Doug McDermott and Creighton tonight.

P.S. DePaul's 4 conference wins are their most since they went 9-8 (inc. conf tourney) in 2007. They should still fire their entire athletic department and coaching staff.

But they won't. Seems like one more year for OP. I hate that this win made me slightly excited for another year with Garrett and Hamilton and hopes of at least competing for an NIT bid.

Won't happen. If it was going to happen, it would have been this year with Young and Melvin still around. Despite their flaws, they are eons better than anyone in the pipeline. Unless Garrett somehow becomes a lottery pick next year, DePaul will suck badly again.
