So I have to ask...if Illinois could win against Michigan and at Iowa, and win a BTT game....20-13 (8-10) wins at MSU, Iowa and Minnesota and vs Michigan and Missouri....

8-10 might do it, but they'd need a run in the BTT

At 8-10, Illinois would most certainly be IN.

The only terrible loss they have is home vs. Purdue.

Their worst loss in terms of RPI by far was Georgia Tech but that was on the road

Is Virginia the most underrated team in the country?

I asked about them on the last page because I don't know a damn thing about them, which is insane for a team that's leading the ACC.

So the Purdue and Northwestern losses are going to haunt us, huh?

Also: First time since 1947 that we've held teams under 50 points in 4 consecutive games. Four games ago, we were just inside the top 50 in Kenpom defense. I think we'll probably enter the top 20 after this game.

I wouldn't try to turn that into a good win at this point.

Two games after blowing out Michigan Iowa started a three game losing streak and is now struggling at home vs Purdue. What the hell happened to this team?

I really hope this is enough to put us in. I don't have a lot of confidence that Iowa will beat Illinois of course the way the Big Ten has been this year they'll beat Michigan State on the road then lose to Illinois.

They're pulling me back in. Where has this Sheehey been all year? Beating Ohio state without Vonleh is an accomplishment. But it means nothing unless they beat Nebraska and probably beat Illinois/Purdue and then Wisconsin next weekend.

Tony started coaching on his dad's staff in Madison. When he retired and Bo took over, Bo kept Tony and he stuck around for 2-3 years before going to Wash State when his dad came out of retirement.

Bo Ryan coaching tree.

Are you sure on that? He was on his dad's team at UWGB that made the tourney 2 straight years (an odd fact I only know because a guy from my high school was the starting shooting guard on those teams) and I'd guess he was probably an assistant for his dad at some point at UW, but I don't recall him working for Bo.

Yeah, I was thinking Dick Bennett coaching tree.

And I was basically trying to make a comparison to the previous post that said they don't trust a Tony Bennett team in the tournament, connected to his Wisconsin roots and Bo's track record.

Makes sense. He's a very good coach (just like Bo Ryan is). But that style can tend to keep lesser teams close--which is a recipe for upsets in the tournament. Virginia is very good but it would not surprise to see them in a close game with an underdog in an early round. And that's never where you want to be.

For the "Who gives a rat's ass except me" file: DIII Tournament Bracket released today:

Illinois Wesleyan enters the tournament #4 in the nation but due to D3 scheduling they just get a brutal road to the Final Four again. Most D3 schools are located in the Midwest and Northeast so travel is a big deal when putting this together.

Did anyone on here go to a D3 school?

UW-LaCrosse here. They had great football and XC/track programs while I was there but they've fallen off a bit in the last few years.

The Wisconsin schools are typically very strong athletically (UWSP #1 and UW-W #2 in basketball right now). And I think Whitewater won the football title as well.

IWU actually plays a school out of STL in the 1st round (Webster), although I don't think they are all that great.
