So the highest paid players were the most overvalued. That's the NFL.

The highest paid players who didn't play that well...

I wouldn't mind Cook. He is however, a horrible blocker.

The Bears have to address OL or TE in free agency which would open up their draft possibilities. If we were to sign Cook, we could go for a Tavon Austin or Ogletree if a true LT doesn't fall to us at 20.

There is at least a bit of speculation of Albert getting dealt. Wonder what it'd take to get him? Not having a full set of picks is an issue.

Yeah...only 5 draft picks this year. If we trade a 1st or a 2nd in a deal, we are left with only 1 pick in the first 3 rounds.

Need to address OL in FA and the draft. Rather spend money on OT or OG than a high priced TE because probably not gonna be able to do both.

Yeah the only problem is, depending on who falls to us at 20, I'm not sure anyone outside a first or second rounder can start immediately.

I don't know how it would work with the Bears cap situation, but is it feasible to hope for Long and Winston?

I think it's pointless to get two tackles when all 3 interior OL positions could use an upgrade and there are two viable candidates for RT on the roster.

Add Sam Baker and Jared Cook. Keep Urlacher, Roach, Idonije, McCown, and Louis. Draft OG and WR in 1-2. Use remaining picks on OLB, QB, and CB. Cut Hester and Davis. Extend Jennings and Tillman. Restructure Bennett, Spaeth, Briggs, and Bush. Realistic?

Baker is a nice LT who'd be cheaper (and possibly a safer risk) than Long. Might be the type of signing needed to be done to retain Melton, address LB and possibly address TE in free agency.

Yeah, I've been thinking the "cheap" route may be the way to go this offseason. Jake Long or Andre Smith would eat up a huge chunk of space. And as I see it, the Bears could stand to upgrade all of the following:

2-3 OL spots, TE (maybe 2 spots, if cut Spaeth also), backup QB (again maybe 2 spots), WR, DT, DE, CB (also maybe 2 spots if Hayden leaves), and LB. With only 5 picks, the Bears either have to trade down, spread out the $ in free agency, or suffer at a couple positions.

That being said, I think I'd still rather spend a chunk on OT (maybe not Long though), then get cheap depth in free agency at DT (Dorsey?), backup QB, and maybe CB. Then I'd draft WR, LB, TE, OG, and CB.

backup QB (again maybe 2 spots),

Please no. No Cutler = no win. Maximize the team around Cutler and draft a QB mid-round in the next couple years but don't spend money on veterans backups.

Not talking about real money. But they aren't going into the season with just a draft pick and the Udfa from last year as backups. Thats all they have. Campbell and McCown are ufas.

I see a lot of talk regarding Cook and desire for the Bears to sign him. The guy seems like he feels he's worth an awful lot of money though. Brandon Myers could be a good alternative since common concensus is that the Raiders offense inflated his numbers. I understand it's hard to make a heavy committment to a guy that only had one good year, but if Cook wants to be paid like a wideout, I say Myers is more than welcome.

Yeah, there are a few good TE options out there: Cook, Myers, Keller and probably Finley.

I still feel like TE isn't worth spending a lot of money on, especially not in lieu of OL help. Jared Cook would be a nice luxury, but if the Bears want a TE with a lot of potential to stretch the field, I'd just as soon trade down and target Zach Ertz late 1/early 2. Or draft Escobar in the 2nd.

FWIW, don't think Eifert is worth 20 and won't be there much later than that.

Bears have actually explored addition of OG Brandon Moore, according to source.
