Cut Hester, Garza, and Davis Contract extensions for Cutler and Tillman.

Sign Melton to extension. Sign Branden Albert. Look for a value signing in the interior.

Ideally draft Cooper in the first.

Cutler is not getting extended this offseason. Its the Flacco situation. The team will wait to see if Cutler can get them over the hump. Cutler is not going to take a non elite offer because he obviously thinks he's elite.

While I understand that from Cutler's standpoint that doesn't make sense from the team view. If he gets you over the hump his cost will have skyrocketed.

From the Bears point of view, you could spend 70-80 Mil on him now and he could get another concussion, not take the offense to the next level and you're stuck paying him for the next 5 years. You got a new coach who is a renowned QB expert and an OC that worked with Drew Brees, and a relatively new GM that may be looking to completely clean house before his tenure is in jeopardy. Also a potentially good QB class next year. The downside is you pay him 100-120 Mil in his next contract, but you have a proven elite level QB at that point so it won't matter.

If he gets you over the hump, it means that you've reached your goal of winning the Superbowl. If the risk is that Cutler will cost more if the Bears win the Superbowl, I'll take it.

dolphins tag starks, leaving long to walk. still would rather have albert, those [expletive] lowdown dirty chief [expletive] just tag bowe you asses.

Local radio seems to think that it's a choice between which of Albert or Bowe signs a long term deal while the other gets tagged, as opposed to letting one of them walk.

well that would certainly suck.

If Albert stays in KC, its not the end of the world. He's kind of injury-prone anyway. Long, Smith, and Vollmer could all be out there. Loadholt and Baker would be improvements as well. I'm wanting the line improved as a unit, not just LT. We had more issues than just Webb. I guess my perfect scenario is sign Albert and have Warmack fall to us in the draft, but there's plenty of combos I'd be OK with.

At this point I'm just desperate to not be sitting here in May wondering why we did nothing. Again.

walterfootball has barrett jones going to the packers late in round 2. if he falls to the bears, it would be idiotic not to take him. i'm very confident that the bears will go offense early and often in the draft. if they can snag albert, then they're looking like:

albert

jones

garza

louis

carimi

with brown and scott backing up. grab eifert at 20 and your offense is solid.

Albert had injury problems this season but before that, he had missed one game in his whole career.

I'm really starting to like the idea of going after a big time offensive weapon for Jay in the 1st. Tavon Austin would add such a dynamic piece to the offense, and Trestman is supposed to be a wide-open offensive guy. Getting a WR like Austin would lessen the need for TE, which isn't as important to the passing game anyway. Then go OL in the 2nd. Of course, that strategy is dependent on getting a major piece for the OL in free agency.

I like the idea of Austin, but as you point out, that means you really have to hit OL hard in free agency.

Honestly, OL help needs to be added in FA no matter how you slice it. The Bears aren't likely to get a sure upgrade at 20 on the OL unless Jonathan Cooper is still on the board. Joeckel, Fisher, and Johnson will be gone. Warmack will be gone. And I like Fluker, but he has questions in pass pro and is only a RT (unless they think outside the box and put him at LG), either way that means Webb is still at LT.

Any of the top OL worth trading up to get? I think most mocks have Johnson gone by the time you get the Chargers at 11, so you'd have to get into the top 10, and I have no idea how much that would cost, or if it'd be worth it.

I'd trade up for Johnson if he got past the Chargers. Wouldn't trade into the top 10 though. If he gets past SD, gotta get in front of St Louis to get him. It's a lot easier to trade from 20 to 15 than 20 to 10.
