Bears have actually explored addition of OG Brandon Moore, according to source.

He's old. Meh

Yep, but there's not a lot of cap room after Melton so...

They gotta restructure or cut. There's only 3 mil in space. Maybe even give Melton a deal?

He's actually the top rated OG per PFF. Interesting thing is that he's only ever played RG. And it's probably a case of old dog/new trick with him. Meanwhile, the Bears have Carimi, who played RG last year and the position I assumed he was earmarked for this year. Louis also is still a possibility to re-sign and also played RG, though he is flexible having played both.

Add Sam Baker and Jared Cook. Keep Urlacher, Roach, Idonije, McCown, and Louis. Draft OG and WR in 1-2. Use remaining picks on OLB, QB, and CB. Cut Hester and Davis. Extend Jennings and Tillman. Restructure Bennett, Spaeth, Briggs, and Bush. Realistic?

i'm good with his. melton will have to be extended as well. he should get around 5 mil instead of the 8+. he's cheaper to keep long term than franchise.

i like baker, but i like finley more than cook.

Can any of those guys play LG?

louis should be re-signed on the cheap and should be a fixture at guard in the long term. the other guard position can be filled by taking barrett jones in the 2nd. jones can slide to center if need be. this would give us the flexibility to take an ILB in the first. i'm ok with t'eo, not so much with ogletree

Agree with Finley over Cook. I think u need a guy that can at least try to block.

The problem u run into is that u still have Webb and Carimi on the edges. Unless u sign or draft an OT. In that case, u have one of Carimi, Louis, Jones on the bench unless u cut Garza which would be ok by me but maybe not realistic.

We should really cut Garza. Of course you hope you can find a good replacement in the draft, but if you can't is Edwin Williams any worse? No. And I believe we figure to save 2-3m in cap space. And he is arguably our worst OL. Carimi might have played worse, but at least has potential to improve dramatically where Garza will continue to decline.

Agreed... Garza makes way too many stupid mistakes to be paid as well as he is while being probably a below average nfl center.

Problem is u only has so much money and so few picks. But I think it is very feasible to use Garza's money in something else and replace him in the draft with Edwin as a fallback option.

I'd love to have G Andy Levitre personally. He's young too.

Too expensive. Plus you can get a quality guard in the second round.

Maybe my head is buried in the sand when it comes to O-lineman, but is it common for the Center to have as many false start penalties as Garza?

i should have said that this is assuming we sign a FA LT like Baker and cut Baker.

Part of me wonders if the guys we're trying to restructure are waiting for Urlacher to be resigned before they do it. Either way, I'm hopeful we'll get one announcement from the team saying we've redone a few contracts that gives us 10 mill or so of cap room. As far as Moore goes, he's solid. I'd be fine with him, but I really want a LT somehow in FA, so we know more of what we've got than drafting Fluker or someone and hoping it pans out.

So the Bears want to re sign Campbell. It's ridiculous how they aim to keep everybody. There's got to be a shakeup on the OL and they have to go cheap at backup QB to address more pressing needs

I'd be ok with McCown as the backup and draft a project as the No. 3.

Dunno how legit this guy is.

The #Bears have contacted the agents of guard Andy Levitre, tackle Eric Winston and receivers Greg Jennings and Mike Wallace. Let it begin.

winston is intriguing, but what do we do with carimi, then? considering the big position we need to fill is LT, first and foremost.

I think Carimi is going to be the RG next year. He was terrible at RT, was OK at RG last year and giving him an entire offseason at the position could make him above average. He hasn't earned the right to start over Webb at RT. And if he starts at RT with Webb at LT, the OL will undoubtedly be miserable again.

I think the Bears would like to bring in a LT to move Webb to the right, but if they can get a huge upgrade at RT, they'll keep Webb at LT and hope to get a really good LG. Winston would keep Webb at LT, but on the plus side he'll be cheap enough that the Bears could also afford to sign an OG or TE....assuming they clear some money pretty soon.

This pretty much fits for the Cubs as well.

i would love to see what a healthy Louis can do at RT, but that's probably sailed with the ACL injury.

do they have enough money for someone like levitre AND winston? if so, we'd have enough coverup to make webb look like an average LT. and that way we could draft Eifert in the first and hope for Jones in the second. BArrett Jones is going to be a a perrenial pro-bowl player.
