Brett Taylor @BleacherNation

Wouldn't hate the Cubs giving him that sixth year. RT @jonmorosi Anibal Sanchez has multiple five-year offers, source says.

"I've never pitched without pain. There's always a small problem with something. I have five scars inside my shoulder, and some nerve has to be touching those."

Meanwhile, in snark that is actually funny:

Patrick Daugherty @RotoPat

Scutaro should be chairman of the Aubrey Huff Memorial Foundation by 2014.

According to ABTY, 5 teams have checked in on Soriano. Marlins wanted Lake for Escobar and we've checked in on Jeff Franceour.(as part of platoon, I assume)

Anyone know how Lake stacks up to Derek Dietrich?

Pretty close, in my opinion. Lake has more upside, both likely project as utility types. Personally, I'm OK with not making the deal. If they'd have taken Watkins, I'd have pulled the trigger.

That's interesting. I wouldn't have guessed Lake had that much value (not that Escobar is anything great but he has been above league average, had a few well above average years, for his career at a premium position and has a fair contract). I wonder if other teams across the league value Lake as highly?

File this one under "WTF?"...

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com hears that the Twins might consider trading Ben Revere.

It would be a strange move, given that they just cleared room in center field for Revere by dealing Denard Span. Even more bizarre is that Morosi says they would be looking for a center fielder in return. Revere has zero power but batted .294 with 40 steals in 2012 and also offers great defense. He's under team control through 2017.

We just traded our center fielder so we could free up the room to trade our other center fielder for another center fielder.

Kazmir is hitting 94 again evidently and is supposedly signing soon with someone. If we're taking flyers, thats the guy I want to take one on. He's still just 28 somehow.

Holy [expletive] why?

"Hey man, all he needs is a change of scenery. Just look at the numbers. The first year of whatever new team he plays for he always plays well."

Said the Braves fan I got into an argument with about Justin Upton not being as good as everyone thinks he is because of his extreme home/road splits and him citing the "change of scenery" excuse with Francouer as a perfect (read: only) reason why I'm ("completely, utterly, idiotically") wrong.

That was a lot to say this: Francouer huffs dong

Valbuena

Pretty much. Or Stewart reprises.

I'm much more curious how they plan to fill an entire outfield.

I'd actually much prefer Stewart.

Valbuena was league average. I'm not sure we can count on Stewart for that (although, I suppose we can't really count on Valbuena for that, but he did nothing out of the ordinary and much of his value was defensive).

If it's between Valbuena and Stewart, I'd just as soon give Stewart a shot now that his wrist is repaired (even knowing how wrist injuries sap power), because his upside is still intriguing. Plus Stewart is a pretty good defender as well.

Source says Marlins were "panicked" to get rid of Yunel Escobar and did so to Rays for Derek Dietrich, as @DKnobler first reported.

Man they really sound like they know what they're doing in Miami...

Should have sent him the Giants just for fun.

I have a hard time believing that, it makes so little sense.

While Frenchy is the polar opposite of everything this regime wants in a player, if we were to be able to trade both Soriano and DeJesus for decent value, I could see them seeing if they could get him for scraps just for a veteran body in the outfield.

And I havn't seen this here, and I don't have a link, but last night, The Astros traded Wilton Lopez to the Rockies for Alex White and a minor leaguer. I know that White's stock has taken quite the plunge, but he's still a nice pick up for the Astros, who are also in Logan's Run mode.
