It seems like we're going to deal Marmol, but I'd rather not. It's not as if the bullpen is overflowing with potentially useful pitchers.

I agree. But he is getting paid closer's money, so if trading him nets a useful return and frees up some money to buy another reliever or two, that would be all right.

But he's a useful bullpen piece that shouldn't be dealt just for the sake of it.

This. A Marmol-Fujikawa end of the pen could be a lot of fun. As of right now the pen actually looks pretty damn solid.

Taking the "strike-thrower" mantra to all parts of the pitching staff, it appears.

Oh that splitter is just dirty.

Seriously.

browsing through youtube videos of this guy, it looks like his old Japanese teams fans released balloons at the end of games. I simultaneously love and hate that.

a) how depressing is a blown save in that stadium and funny/awkward

b) there has got to be a lot of spit flying around

My thoughts also. If some team wants to overpay for Marmol, then deal him. Otherwise, I'm fine with him in the pen next year.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but between this and the Bourn/Choo rumors, I'm starting to think that there will be some real effort put forth in 2013.

If we are matching last year's payroll, we still have about $25-30 million to spend.

Much as I'll be happy if we are trying this season, I still kind of wish we had gotten Upton instead of pursuing Bourn.
