Chance Warmack may be the best college guard I've watched play in a really long time.

I was going to post something about how I really want him on the Bears next year.

FYI, both Stanford TEa turned pro - Zach Ertz and Levine Toilolo. Both are big targets, great pass catchers.

If I'm running the Cowboys, he doesn't make it to the Bears. He's probably going to end up being my draft pet until I'm convinced he won't make it to 18 for the Cowboys to pick him.

Yeah, no chance he makes it past Dallas at 18. He's really good.

Kind of funny story about Warmack, a friend and I walk into a bar and they're showing Bama highlights a year ago about this time. He's not a big college football fan and only pays attention to the draft when people on his Giants message board talk about it. We walk in and he sees 1 play and says, "Dude that #65 is so big, fat, and mean I want him on the Giants whenever he comes out". My response was, well you better lose a bunch of games then because he's going to be a top 15 pick.

Better than DeCastro or Iupati?? Or go even a little farther back with Mankins or Hutchinson?

Definitely better than DeCastro coming out of the draft. Iupati was a tough case for me since I never saw him in a game - just videos when he blew up - but I'd say Warmack is better.

Mankins and Hutchinson were before I paid that much attention to the draft/knew what to look for in offensive linemen.

I suspect not many people saw Iupati play in college. I did and wasn't "ga-ga" about him. Big fan of DeCastro though and I like Warmack a little better. I liked Mankins too, but about the same as DeCastro. I don't think anyone can F with Hutchinson though. He was really good in college.

Probably not enough to drop to 20, but I'd still kill to have him on the Bears.

Not enough to drop him out of the top 10. He's still a fine prospect in a weak draft, no matter if he's overrated in the media.

He plays a relatively worthless position in today's NFL though. There isn't a huge need for run stopping MLB with leadership skills.

What about a run-stopping MLB with leadership skills and lots of individual trophies?

I forgot to take those into account.

Of course you're right that team needs will play an immense role in where he's picked but I think he's as good a prospect as Luke Kuechly who went #9 in a stronger draft

Yeah, Te'o is basically another Kuechly. I'm not sure he's quite as good (Kuechly did lead the league in tackles after all), but that's his style.

Luke Joeckel turned pro yesterday. Hopefully Jake Matthews follows suit, anything to get more quality OL into the draft.

Tajh Boyd has a press conference set up for today. He got a third round grade but I think he has the athleticism and tools to work his way into a high first round pick, especially given how weak the QB position is in this draft. I wasn't impressed with him against FSU or South Carolina but he did great against LSU with Sammy Watkins out injured.

Taylor Lewan and Jake Matthews are returning to college for their senior seasons. At this point, I can't see a way the Bears get good value for an LT at 20 (have to hope for Albert or Long in FA). I worry that a dearth of tackles will also lead to team reaching on interior linemen in the draft.

Next year's draft will be stocked with franchise LTs, though - Cyrus Kuandijo and Antonio Richardson will also be eligible for the draft.

At 20 you gotta go MLB or G/C depending on who falls. Ogletree or Te'o is a possibility.

Kouandijo, Richardson, Matthews, Lewan, and if he can put it all together, Seantrel Henderson are all top 20 caliber players at LT next year.

Eric Fisher and Lane Johnson are the happiest people in America right now. I'd imagine at least 1 goes top 15 now. The other top 25. With Lewan and Matthews, both were borderline 1st rounders.

I doubt there will be an OL at 20 unless you reach. I'd rather trade down than go MLB, acquiring another second and maybe a third round pick or a high 2014 pick. Multiple opportunities for OL/TE/WR who can start right away with multiple 2nd/3rd rounders. Hope a team like Arizona is desperate to trade up for a QB and overpays.

Alabama underclassman OT D.J. Fluker is going pro. This is a huge prospect who is clearly first round material. He might be gone by the time the Bears pick at 20 (one scout said he thought he would be a late first rounder; others say he'll go mid first), but if so his presence will push down other OTs on the board. Said one front office man, "He is one of the biggest, most physically impressive kids I've ever seen." Every running back in the NFL should be lobbying for his team to take this guy. Fluker might be a right tackle only in the NFL, because he is better at run blocking than pass protecting.

Fluker is, at best, an RT in the NFL and might be a G. I would imagine they'd be able to trade down and still pick him.
