I am guessing the Bears will trade out of the first round. They have too many immediate needs.

Emery doesnt strike me as that shortsighted. A great way to fill a need is with a first round talent. He'll trade up if need be. Sure he could trade down for the right value, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I'd feel confident Angelo would have given his body of work but have no idea with Emery. Admittedly the Bears do lack a third rounder this year.

I can see a trade down if there is a QB on the board that someone wants to take before the Jags pick in the 2nd. But I only see a trade if the Bears are dead set on drafting a TE with their 1st pick. Eifert and Ertz would both be overdrafts at 20, and at least 1 should be there if you go back to the top 7-10 of the 2nd round. I don't really like either idea. A lot will depend on the new coach though.

If you don't take a TE with your first pick, might as well stay at 20 and draft the best OT, OG, LB available.

SBNation did a one round mock draft. Has the Bears taking Jonathan Cooper, OG from North Carolina.

Jonathan Cooper is an impressive prospect. He is as athletic as any guard I've ever studied and would do wonders for a Bears offensive line that has struggled in recent years. This pick would make a lot of sense.

Ogletree wasn't picked.

not a fan of that draft.

My question is whether the guy at 20 is really that much better than the guy at 35 plus the chance to draft a TE in the 2nd Round (where many quality receivers and TE's can be found) and another OL in the 3rd round.

I could easily see a trade down, especially with no 3rd rounder and less of a need for one impact guy but rather multiple capable players. They don't need an elite pass rusher, DB, QB or receiver. I'm also not sure how a trade down is "short sighted".

@chaddscott The pic from office window is old news. These guys had all missed a class. Great kids and hard workers. #tigertough #LSU

Granted I don't know much about Ziggy Ansah, but I have trouble seeing a scenario where the Titans take a pass rusher in the first round not named Jarvis Jones with him still on the board and me being happy.

Also, no Bray/Hunter/Patterson in the first round? I don't buy it.

The only surprise name on the list of 6 defenders is Simon. All five of the others were expected to be early entrants. Wing went pro because he had gotten in trouble and there was whispers his suspension could have extended into next season. Ware hasn't been a starter since he lost his job after his drug suspension last year. He still was part of the rotation, but was 3rd on the RB depth chart.

That being said, it will be tough to replace Logan, Mingo, Montgomery, Minter, and Reid.

Agreed. The 5 you listed in your last sentence all have a chance at being first round picks. On the other hand, I actually had to look up who Simon was.

I guess you could say 9 Tigers turned pro since Tyrann Mathieu did too.

I knew who Simon was because I cussed his name numerous times this year after he got burnt. I can't see him being higher than a fifth rounder. I could be wrong, but he just doesn't impress me. The other five are great players.

Chance Warmack may be the best college guard I've watched play in a really long time.

I was going to post something about how I really want him on the Bears next year.

FYI, both Stanford TEa turned pro - Zach Ertz and Levine Toilolo. Both are big targets, great pass catchers.
